SIN: The Handburger

Where creativity comes in!

UPDATE (27/1//2013): It has just come to my attention that The Handburger is now part of the Soup Spoon Union at Raffles City Shopping Centre. It's still located at B1.

Alright, this is my very first review! I've always been wanting to patronise this particular burger eatery, an original Singapore brand, located at Raffles City Shopping Centre, and I finally did!

Without further ado, here are the stuff I ordered.

The Handburger Original S$7.80
(+S$4.00 to complete the meal which includes a side dish and a drink)
Taste: 6/10

The eatery boasts its original creation which highlights the rib-eye beef patty and the sweet onion jam, among all the usual embellishments like tomatoes and iceberg lettuce. Pika's advice: The patty will be served medium-rare, so inform the server if you don't prefer medium-rare. Honestly, I'm not really a fan of medium-rare patties in a burger, so I requested for medium-well since she asked me anyway. However, when I got my burger and sliced through the patty, I was astonished to see the red-coloured flesh, but I finished it anyway. Also, the skin of the bun was kinda tough, but the sweet onion jam made of caramelised onion was lovely.

Onion Rings
Taste: 7/10

The onion rings, luckily, saved the day. The succulent onion blended well with the crispiness of the batter seasoned with herbs, topped with red pepper powder. They weren't too oily as well.

Ice Lemon Tea

My guess: Seasons Ice Lemon Tea.

Chicken Caesar Burger S$9.80
Taste: 7/10

This burger came with a very tender chicken breast and bacon which melted in my mouth (sinful!). The handmade caesar dressing was delightful. Overall, this was better than the Handburger Original. It looked more appetising as well!

Melon's Rating
Taste: 6.5/10
Ambience: 6/10
Service: 6/10
Overall: 6/10

When I finished my meal, I realised I forgot about the claimed handmade tomato sauce which was supposed to be eaten with the onion rings! I'm a big fan of tomato sauce, so I just ate happily without anything else. The server was kinda stunned when she took the empty plates away while I was enjoying the sauce which tasted more like Del Monte's tomato sauce. Well, I think Heinz's is the best! Oh, only after I stepped out of the eatery I remembered that one of my friends recommended the milkshake. Aww, maybe next time...
