MAS: Citin Hotel Masjid Jamek [Breakfast]

Decent pork-free buffet breakfast! :)

Citin Hotel (3*) is a hotel brand that marks its presence in the bustling cities of Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok. Even though it's not a luxurious hotel, I won't mind staying there again as it's not only affordable, but also value-for-money. I purposely stayed in the Masjid Jamek branch the other day because it's just a stone's throw away from the ever-busy Masjid Jamek LRT interchange station in central KL.

The hotel states that the food served may not be Halal, but it's guaranteed to be free of pork. For the price, the variety of food the hotel offered the other day wasn't bad. As usual, since this is a buffet review, I'll only give an overall score at the end.

Bread

I started my meal with a few slices of toasted bread with a bit of margarine and pineapple jam.

Corn Flakes with Milk

Well, what can I say about corn flakes haha... Anyway, they offered two types: plain and chocolate.

Assorted Stuff #1

While the scrambled eggs were slightly overcooked for my liking, they were still moist. The rest  (baked beans, chicken sausages and ham slices) were those found in the supermarket. I didn't quite like sausage because it lacked firmness.

Assorted Stuff #2

The fried rice was prepared with sliced chili to give a bit of a kick. The same went to the fried hor fun (Chinese flat rice noodle), added with a very limited amount of beansprouts to give the extra crunch. While the fried rice wasn't oily, the hor fun was. The chapati was a bit hard to chew, but the dhal was thick and flavourful.

Pineapple Cordial Drink & Tea

Seems like they love to serve pineapple-flavoured stuff, eh? Anyway, the pineapple cordial drink was sufficiently sweet to wake me up, and a cup of warm tea after meal was definitely great to wash down the food.

Melon's Rating
Taste: 6.5/10
Ambience: 7.5/10
Overall: 7/10

Pika's advice: If you don't fancy any of the cooked items, you can always stick to corn flakes and bread and margarine or jam. You can't go wrong with them. Ambience wasn't bad; I sat for more than an hour, enjoying my breakfast while watching TV.
