CHN: Mellow Orange Hotel [Breakfast]

Image
Acceptable buffet breakfast, but no oranges! :P I stayed only one night in Shenzhen, and Mellow Orange Hotel (3*) was my choice. It's located not very far away from Fanshen metro station. It's cheap, and it offers free LAN internet access.

CHN: Modern Toilet Restaurant

Image
Paradoxical food-and-bathroom combo just for fun! I just came back from Shenzhen and Guangzhou yesterday, and I actually have another mid-term exam tomorrow afternoon, but I guess I'm going to write this 'fun' review. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Modern Toilet Restaurant branch in HK is no longer available, right? This is exactly the reason why I went all the way to Dongmen Food Street in Shenzhen.

HKG: Capital Café

Image
Fluffy, velvety scrambled eggs to die for! This shall be the last entry of the week since I'll be going to Shenzhen and Guangzhou over the weekend, departing early in the morning tomorrow. The day after I applied for the Chinese visa in Wan Chai, I went to Capital Café for a quick brunch. I've done a research on this eatery earlier, and I've seen many people are giving two thumbs up for many of the dishes served.

HKG: Tony Roma's {CLOSED}

Image
"More than great ribs!" UPDATE (24/04/2012): The branch has closed down due to the expiry of the lease. Tony Roma's is currently looking for a new site in HK. I know I can find Tony Roma's in Singapore, or even in Jakarta, but I happened to have a discount voucher which had to be used promptly. Anyway, I found the above quotation (from their website) to be true, especially after trying their char-grilled steak for the first time in my life.

HKG: Tsim Chai Kee

Michelin Bib Gourmand - King, not queen, prawn dumplings! Why do I feel like writing everytime I have a mid-term exam the next day? Anyway, for those who're not familiar with the Bib Gourmand category of the 2012 Michelin Guide, it's actually a list of restaurants offering what they judge to be "good food at moderate prices". Today, we'll look into a humble, yet successful noodle eatery tucked in the Central District of HK.

HKG: Yè Shanghai

Image
Two Michelin Star - Decent brunch with a fusion dessert! Let's move on from Tim Ho Wan , the cheapest One Michelin Star in the world, but we haven't steered away from the topic:  dim sum . I believe Yè Shanghai was listed under One Michelin Star restaurants in 2011, but it has since paved its way to become a Two Michelin Stars restaurant in 2012.

HKG: Tim Ho Wan {MOVED}

Image
One Michelin Star - Awesome tonic medlar and petal 'cake'! UPDATE (09/11/2019): The Mong Kok branch has moved to Olympian City 2 at 18 Hoi Ting Road. Actually I have two mid-term papers to sit for tomorrow, but I really have no idea what to study. Anyway, today I'm going to review the world's cheapest One Michelin Star restaurant in 2012. Tim Ho Wan (lit. Add Good Luck) has been in business since the 1920s. Oh, actually I had dim sum  at another popular One Michelin Star restaurant, but since I'd like to go back to that place, I'll review Tim Ho Wan first (get the hint?) :P

HKG: Lamma Hilton Shum Kee Seafood Restaurant

Image
Reasonably-priced set meals with fresh seafood! Welcome to Lamma Island, one of the most frequently visited outlying islands surrounding HK by locals and tourists alike. After a few hours of trekking from Yung Shue Wan to Sok Kwu Wan, I decided to dine at this particular restaurant which is located next to the most famous seafood restaurant in Sok Kwu Wan (I'm sure you'll find the answer when you google it) which some people feel that it has somehow turned into a tourist trap.

HKG: Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.

Image
Shrimp galore, and fabulous desserts! Inspired by a movie titled Forrest Gump, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. was founded in 1996 in Monterey, California, and it currently has more than 30 branches worldwide. I was enthralled while watching the emotional movie, but now let's see if the food offered by the restaurant could win my heart! Anyway, Bubba Gump is one of the restaurants in the Peak Tower offering breathtaking views of HK city and Victoria Harbour (when it's not misty, of course :P).

HKG: Marion Crêpes {CLOSED}

Image
Sweet and savoury  cr ê pes  from Harajuku! UPDATE (10/6/2014):  The stall has closed down. Since the HK website has been taken down, I doubt there is any other branch there. Just as I entered the Peak Galleria, a shopping centre opposite to the Peak Tower, I was greeted by an eye-catching display of  cr ê pes  that made me drool.
