HKG: Harvest Restaurant

Decent, no-frills lunch in Noah's Ark!

Ever heard of the world's only full-sized replica of Noah's Ark on Ma Wan Island, HK? No, of course I'm not going to explain much about it here, but it was first opened to the public in May 2009. Located on the ground floor, offering panoramic views of the Tsing Ma Bridge and Tung Wan Beach, Harvest Restaurant serves decent food for a quick lunch.

Spicy Chicken Wings with Salad HK$48.00 (~S$8.00)
Taste: 7/10

Actually the dish is listed under snacks, but I ordered it as an appetiser haha... Anyway, the chicken wings were okay, I guess: somewhat juicy with a hint of herbs, but not that spicy and a bit greasy at the same time. The vegetables had an acceptable degree of freshness. On the other hand, the potato wedges were pretty enjoyable as they were fluffy.

Braised Rice Vermicelli with Shredded Duck and Preserved Vegetables HK$56.00 (~S$9.30)
Taste: 7.5/10

I was glad that the rice vermicelli was pretty moist. The shredded duck didn't really have any distinctive taste, but it was pretty tender. The preserved vegetables weren't overly salty, adding crunch and flavour to the dish.

Pork Belly and Taro with Steamed Rice HK$56.00 (~S$9.30)
Taste: 7/10

The pork belly somehow lacked the melt-in-the-mouth goodness, but it was still good nonetheless since it was braised pretty well. The yam slices were pretty smooth and starchy, but lacking the creamy texture I was looking for. Hmm, a little bit more sugar would be great to balance the flavour of the dish.

Melon's Rating
Taste: 7/10
Ambience: 8/10
Overall: 7.5/10

It seems like there are only a few dishes offered for lunch everyday, possibly rotated on a daily basis. Order the food from the list shown in the TV screen from the cashier, then sit down until your number is called. Oh, I've got no idea why the link says "Rainbow Restaurant" haha... Pika's advice: The restaurant offers buffet dining at night! Do check it out! :)
