PHI: Mango Park Hotel [Breakfast]

Deliciously tender chorizo!

Located in the uptown section of Cebu City, Mango Park Hotel (3*) is within walking distance to Fuente Osmeña Circle, the focal landmark of the city, as well as One Mango Avenue Building which houses Zubuchon. Well, it's not exactly safe to wander around, I'd say, especially at night.

Assorted Stuff #1

The vegetables for the salad weren't entirely fresh, but still acceptable. The bruschetta was crispy, and had a nice balance of flavour from the sweet tomato sauce and the savoury melted cheese. The siu mai was a bit dry on the outside, but surprisingly, the pork inside was juicy.

Assorted Stuff #2

As mentioned in the caption above, the chorizo (Spanish pork sausage) was ridiculously tender, and the sweetness that oozed out of it went well with the fried rice. I also enjoyed the scrambled eggs which were creamy and more or less fluffy. Pika's advice: I noticed that the food wasn't replenished very frequently the other day, so grab the chorizo!

Assorted Stuff #3

Nothing could beat a fluffy pancake with a bit of butter and honey for breakfast. The chocolate cake was nice, but very sticky on the teeth. Sorry, I've got no idea why I didn't write anything about the dessert on the glass cup on my notes, and thus I can't really remember how it tasted like. The bottom layer was vanilla cookie crumbs, methinks. However, I can recall clearly that I had two servings of it haha...

Arroz Caldo

The congee wasn't as flavourful as the one I had in the PAL Domestic Mabuhay Lounge @ Manila the other day, but it was good nonetheless. It was slightly thick, and hmm, the salted eggs weren't that salty.

Fruits & Orange Cordial Drink

Of the three types of fruits available, with the pineapple being the best: sweet, sour and very juicy. The orange cordial drink wasn't overly sweet.

Melon's Rating
Taste: 7.5/10
Ambience: 7/10
Overall: 7/10

To be honest, at first I didn't expect the breakfast to be pretty enjoyable. The staff were also quite attentive, clearing up our empty plates promptly.
