THA: Krua Apsorn

Image
Nice contrast between the green and yellow curries! Looking for authentic Thai food loved by the Thai royal family? Come to Krua Apsorn (lit. Kitchen of the Angels), which chef has previously served Princess Mother Srinagarindra and her daughter, Princess Galayani Vadhana, who is the sister of King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Krua Apsorn is always packed during lunch and dinner hours, and I have to admit that the eatery may be a bit difficult to find for tourists.

THA: Bangkok City Inn [Breakfast]

Image
Free flow chicken rice, anyone? Strategically located in the heart of the city, Bangkok City Inn (3*) is within walking distance to CentralWorld, Erawan Shrine and Pratunam Market, but to name a few. It's also close to the expressway and the skytrain.

THA: Phan-Khom Contemporary Thai Cuisine

Image
Massaman chicken curry - one of the most delicious food in the world? I chanced upon Phan-Khom when I was looking for a nice, quiet dinner in CentralWorld, the third largest shopping complex in the world. Actually, I was taken in by the word 'contemporary', as well as the fact that the restaurant wasn't fully occupied.

THA: FoodLoft @ Central Chidlom

Image
Chilly lemongrass drink to freshen up! From Thai to Greek cuisine, Chinese to Indian dishes, you can discover a lot of things under one roof. Having an open kitchen concept, FoodLoft allows customers to see the cooking process in each of the stalls. You'll get a card as soon as you enter the restaurant, which you give to the staff when you get something from one of the stalls for he/she to register your order. When you leave, you give the card to the cashier and pay for your food.

THA: China Town Restaurant

Image
Highly aromatic chrysanthemum drink! Welcome to Bangkok! Finally we've added {Thailand - THA} as a new label in this blog. Lined with tables full of Chinese characters, China Town Restaurant was the first eatery I patronised when I reached Suvarnabhumi International Airport, one of the two international airports in Bangkok.

HKG: Neptune's Restaurant

Image
HK's first aquarium dining experience! Fancy dining under dim lighting with an unobstructed view of a huge aquarium tank full of fishes right before your eyes? Come to Neptune's Restaurant in Ocean Park, HK's premier theme park which was put in the 12th position of the world's most visited theme park by annual attendance in 2011.

PHI: Best Western Hotel La Corona [Breakfast]

Image
First time having kung pao vegetables! Situated in the Ermita district of Manila, Best Western Hotel La Corona (3*) is within walking distance to (at least) two places of attractions: Rizal Park and Manila Ocean Park, both of which I covered in one day.

PHI: Chowking

Image
The biggest Chinese fast-food chain in the Philippines! Combining a Western fast-food service style and Chinese food, Chowking was founded in 1985 when burger joints were dominating the Philippine fast-food scene. I remember I dined at one of the branches in Jakarta before, but I couldn't recall what I ate.

PHI: Aling Tonya's Seafood Palutuan {MOVED}

Image
"A place where you can have your seafood freshly cooked according to your specifications." UPDATE (30/09/2017):  The restaurant has moved to SM Mall of Asia. Started as a humble local eatery in a wet market in Baclaran in the 1980s, Aling Tonya's Seafood Palutuan has since grown in business with a total of 8 branches. Cooking charges vary according to the weight of the seafood items ordered, as well as how would you like them done.

PHI: Jollibee

Image
Peach and mango in a crispy pie! In the Philippines, who doesn't recognise Jollibee, the friendly-looking bee wearing a red blazer and a chef's hat? The profitable fast-food restaurant chain which shares the same name with its mascot serves not only the usual burgers and fried chickens, but also dishes to suit local tastes.
