SIN: The Loft Cuisine

Juicy chicken with creamy cheddar sauce!

The Loft Cuisine is a small eatery located in the East Coast area of Singapore which offers European cuisine. I happened to be around for a quick dinner since I wasn't particularly hungry. For the two main courses shown in this review, you can choose two side dishes to go with each plate. Pika's advice: The main attraction of the eatery is perhaps the Dessert Buffet priced at S$25.00 per person. Those with sweet teeth may want to give it a try!

Pan-Fried Pork Loin with Raisin-Apple Chutney S$14.90
Pork Loin - Taste: 5.5/10
Potato Salad - Taste: 7.5/10
Sautéed Root Vegetables - Taste: 7/10

The pan-fried pork loin was disappointing as it wasn't tender, leaning towards the tough side. It was a pity since the homemade chutney with its mild flavour was pretty aromatic, which ought to go well with juicy meat. The sauteéd vegetables were acceptable, and it was certainly great to see purple cabbage on the plate. Besides that, the potato salad was adequately creamy, although the potato cubes could be a bit softer.

Spring Chicken with Cheddar Sauce S$9.90
Spring Chicken - Taste: 8/10
Mashed Potatoes - Taste: 7.5/10
Olive and Raisin Rice - Taste: 7/10

The spring chicken, on the other hand, was pretty juicy and tender. The accompanying cheddar sauce was creamy and savoury without being overly salty, complementing the chicken well. The mashed potatoes weren't as smooth as I'd love them to be, but they were milky. There wasn't anything special with the rice studded with olives and raisins.

Valrhona Flourless Chocolate Cake FOC
Taste: 7.5/10

Free of charge? Yeah, apparently the server took down the wrong order and gave my friend and I a small plate of dessert each. Talk about good service! Anyway, it was akin to lava cake with chocolate oozing out once you cut into it, although there wasn't so much molten chocolate inside. Nevertheless, it was pretty moist and not cloyingly sweet.

Melon's Rating
Taste: 7/10
Ambience: 7.5/10
Service: 8/10
Overall: 7.5/10

The Filipino server was amiable. Service was prompt too, except for the fact that my friend had to wait for the correct main course to appear.
