SIN: NYDC {CLOSED}

Tennis-sized meatball!

UPDATE (09/07/2017): The restaurant has closed down.

When someone mentions NYDC, it always reminds me of one particular evening many years ago. I was hanging out with some of my school friends. One of them, a famous person in the school I won't reveal, was showing such an orgasmic face when he downed a piece of cheesecake. I really wonder if anyone still has the video that one of us captured that day. Haha... :P

Hookin' Brooklyn Chicks (6 pcs) S$8.80
Taste: 7/10

For appetiser, we essentially had Buffalo wings, served in a traditional manner with carrot and celery sticks, as well as creamy blue cheese dipping with a mild to moderate degree of pungency. While the wings were pretty tender, they could have more of the hot and sour sauce to keep them moist throughout.

The Meatball that Ate Manhattan S$15.80
Taste: 7/10

Be honest - how many of you think of the movie 'Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs' when you see the picture above? Perhaps it's just me. Anyway, the tennis-sized beef and pork meatball was delightfully meaty, but the sauce left much to be desired as it was just plain, one-dimensionally sour.

Prawns Meltdown with Savoury Rice S$15.80
Taste: 6/10

The baked rice, which wasn't that flavourful, was topped with mozzarella cheese and garlic cream sauce that didn't quite pass in terms of the garlic taste. The prawns, even though could be juicier, tasted better than how they appeared to be. Other ingredients were green peppers, onions and mushrooms. Pika's advice: Not a big fan of rice? You may want to opt for macaroni instead.

Goldmine Cheesecake S$6.80
Taste: 8.5/10

THE cheesecake, which seemed to have sent my friends and me to heaven before, was undeniably good. On top was a layer of chocolate fudge, and at the bottom part was made of Oreo cookie crumbs. The balance of flavours was there, but I felt that it was just a tad too rich towards the end of the slice.

Raspberry Tremble S$4.80
Taste: 8.5/10

Frankly speaking, my BFF and I queued for almost an hour to get a seat. All we needed was a refreshing drink after putting our orders, but the drink came very slowly. Anyway, the perfect lemony fizz of the soda was well met by the sweet raspberry aroma.

Melon's Rating
Taste: 7.5/10
Ambience: 6.5/10
Service: 6/10
Overall: 6.5/10

I wouldn't mind coming back for desserts in the future, but not for their savoury items for sure. Anyway, for the uninitiated, NYDC stands for New York Dessert Café.
