TRY: Hotel Baylan - Basmane [Breakfast]

Addictively crispy cheese and herb roll!

October is here! I really hope I can finish this series of eateries in Turkey before I fly off again in December. Anyway, Hotel Baylan - Basmane (3*) is the last hotel in Izmir where I stayed with my BFF before we flew back to Istanbul.

Assorted Stuff #1

The best item, which I took over and over again, was the addictively crispy sigara boregi (Turkish cheese roll) that wasn't only filled with savoury cheese, but also aromatic herbs. The other two pastry items were crunchy, but slightly dry. The sausages were dehydrated, but the hard-boiled egg was fine.

Assorted Stuff #2

There wasn't anything to complain about the ham and cheese slices, as well as the pickled olives. The tomatoes were pretty juicy, and so were the cucumber slices.

Fruits

While the cherries could be fresher, the melon cubes were delectably sweet.

Tea & Orange Cordial Drink

The tea was of medium flavour strength, while the orange cordial drink was a tad too sweet for my liking that I had to add water to the latter.

Melon's Rating
Taste: 6.5/10
Ambience: 6.5/10
Overall: 6.5/10

While the overall score given may not be that high, but the sigara boregi was really good. Pika's advice: There are apparently two Hotel Baylan in the city, one in Basmane (near the train station shown in the picture below) and one in Yenisehir. Should you take a taxi, do inform the driver accordingly.
