SIN: Laffio {CLOSED}

Customise your own pasta dish, but too wet for the aglio olio...

UPDATE (26/07/2020): The restaurant has closed down.

Laffio is said to be a good place for beer aficionados, for it serves a quite a wide selection of premium brews. Well, for someone who doesn't really enjoy beer, I went there only to try the food.

What a wet main course, don't you think? :P

Caesar Salad with Poached Chicken S$9.00
Taste: 6/10

I chose poached chicken to go along with the salad topped with an egg and cheese. Other choices include shaved ham, smoked salmon and bacon. While the lettuce and cherry tomatoes were pretty fresh, the white meat was kinda dry. The anchovy dressing didn't help much to moisten the appetiser.

Spinach Tagliatelle Aglio Olio with Smoked Salmon S$21.00
Taste: 7/10

For those who love to mix and match, you can do so with the pasta dish. I chose the long, flat ribbon pasta that was al dente and healthier due to the use of spinach. While the smoked salmon was tasty without being overly salty, the olive oil, garlic and chili base was a tad too wet for my liking.

Dry Rub Steak S$28.00
Taste: 6/10

I wasn't particularly impressed with the beef cuts that were grilled over charcoal and served with marrow sauce. The red meat wasn't that tender, nor was it rub thoroughly. Also, there was nothing to rave about the somewhat peppery sauce. The onion rings were delectably crunchy though.

Buttermilk Waffles S$13.00
Taste: 7.5/10

The dinner ended on a slightly higher note, thanks to the crunchy waffles dusted with castor sugar. It was complemented well by vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. Pika's advice: Not a fan of caramel sauce? You can choose to have your waffles with marshmallow sauce and chocolate drizzle instead.

Melon's Rating
Taste: 6.5/10
Ambience: 7/10
Service: 8/10
Overall: 7/10

While the food was interesting at first glance, the taste didn't quite tally with the appearance.
