GUY: Starbuds

Huge main courses with two carbohydrates to keep you full!

How many of you read the title as Starbucks? To be frank, I've been to Starbucks less than ten times in my life thus far. Anyway, today's post on a very filling lunch at Starbuds in Georgetown, Guyana, especially when I didn't do anything much between breakfast and lunch due to heavy rain that day.

Pika's advice: If you're thinking of having some dessert, perhaps it's best not to go there on Sunday. They didn't make any that Sunday due to the fact that business was rather slow and they'd be closing at 3.00pm.

Cajun Chicken Strips GY$1,000 (~S$6.60)
Taste: 6.5/10

To begin with, my BFF and I had a starter of chicken strips that were lightly seasoned with salt and pepper. They came with Cajun sauce that was mildly flavourful, but it wasn't as thick and rich as I was expecting it to be. I didn't eat any of the rather dry carrot strips used to decorate the dish.

Lemon Pepper Trout GY$1,700 (~S$11.20)
Taste: 8/10

Look at how substantial the main course was! I enjoyed the trout that was fresh, topped with stir-fried onions and tomatoes. I'd love it with more lemon juice though for that extra zing. Served alongside the fish were fried rice, potato salad and stir-fried leafy greens.

Sweet and Sour Pork GY$2,450 (~S$16.15)
Taste: 8.5/10

The other main course that we shared was the sweet and sour pork ribs. Honestly, I wasn't expecting ribs as the word wasn't mentioned on the menu. Well, they turned out to be juicy with the right balance between the sweet and the sour. BTW, the potato salad was rich, while the vegetables helped to cut through the fats.

Melon's Rating
Taste: 7.5/10
Ambience: 7.5/10
Service: 8/10
Overall: 7.5/10

We were so full that we only ate a piece of bread each for dinner.
