UGA: Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary

Image
Fried fish caught from the lake with nice dry rub! My BFF and I had the opportunity to visit Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary, which is located somewhere in Lake Victoria. We booked a day trip inclusive of lunch at the island with African Adventure Travellers. Due to the rain earlier, our late arrival at the island caused us to have a late lunch at around 3.30pm.

UGA: Café Javas

Split Decision Curry for someone indecisive! For our first meal in Kampala, Uganda, my BFF and I were headed to one of the branches of Café Javas, which boasts more than 300 dishes and beverages. There are more than a handful of branches in the country, as well as two others in Nairobi, Kenya at the point of writing.

Croissant or muffin for a quick breakfast? Today's review is still on Kenya Airways. It's going to be a short one that shall give a quick insight into what's typically served onboard the short flight from Nairobi, Kenya to Entebbe, Uganda and vice versa. My BFF and I took the flights in both directions in the morning.

KEN: Kenya Airways KQ513 (Economy)

Having Indonesian fried rice while flying within Africa! Pardon me for the short hiatus. Let's continue with where we left off last week. My BFF and I left Bamako, Mali for Entebbe, Uganda with the flag carrier of Kenya via Nairobi, its capital city. It was our first experience with Kenya Airways, and we were thankful for the appetising food served onboard KQ513 from Bamako to Nairobi.

MLI: African Grill

Have you tried couscous made of fermented cassava before? We've come to the last post on Bamako, Mali, and most likely there won't be any more in the future. Before leaving for another African country, my BFF and I had our last meal at African Grill during lunch time. It's a no-frills eatery located within the premise of National Museum of Mali.

MLI: Restaurant Balasoko

Have you had guinea fowl before? The French occupation of Mali during the late 19th century has resulted in not only the language being designated as the national language, but also the assimilation of the cuisine into the local food scene. Located within the premise of the peaceful Mali National Park, Restaurant Balasoko serves French cuisine.

MLI: Azalai Grand Hotel [Breakfast]

Image
Breakfast with UN and French peacekeeping soldiers around! My BFF and I only stayed for two nights in Bamako, Mali. The room that we booked at Azalai Grand Hotel (4*) didn't include buffet breakfast. As I wouldn't want to miss this opportunity to let all of you know about its quality, I decided to give it a try with my BFF on our last day by paying  CFA 9,000  (~ S$20.95)  each.

MLI: Restaurant Azalai

Trying two Malian and two Senegalese main courses! "You went to Mali? Are you crazy?" was the question that many people raised in disbelief. Yes, I did, dragging my BFF along. Our time in the Western African country was short, and twice we actually had dinner at Restaurant Azalai inside Azalai Grand Hotel (4*) where we were staying at.

The most inedible food I've ever had onboard... =X After abour 2.5 hours of transit at the tired-looking Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, my BFF and I continued our journey to Bamako, Mali with Ethiopian Airlines. It was a flight that I don't really want to remember, especially the meal service.

Lacklustre breakfast, but I finished it anyway... After many years, I finally flew with Ethiopian Airlines again. From Qatar, Doha, I was headed to Bamako, Mali in Africa via Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Breakfast was served enroute to the capital city of Ethiopia. However, there was no choice of main course offered.

QAT: Al Jasra Traditional Food

'Harees' - a newfound love! On our last day in Doha, Qatar, my BFF and I finally had local cuisine before flying off to somewhere in Africa. Al Jasra Traditional Food, which is tucked away in a contrastingly quiet alley at the bustling Souq Waqif, is an unassuming eatery run by five entrepreneurial middle-aged ladies.

QAT: Al Adhamiyah Iraqi Restaurant

Grilled fish with super acidic lemon sauce at the side! Besides trying Yemeni cuisine at Bandar Aden Restaurant , my BFF and I also took the chance to try Iraqi cuisine at Al Adhamiyah Iraqi Restaurant in Doha, Qatar since we may not be able to visit the country anytime soon. The name of the restaurant is taken from one of the administrative districts in Baghdad, the capital city of Iraq.
