TRY: WOW Istanbul Hotel [Breakfast]

Bowls of heart-warming lentil soup for breakfast!

My first night in Istanbul, Turkey wasn't spent on exploring the city, but to recover from the unavoidable jet lag. My BFF and I chose to stay at WOW Istanbul Hotel (5*), which is just one metro station away from the Istanbul Ataturk Airport, before flying off to the lovely city of Izmir the following day.

Lentil Soup

While I didn't have much lentil soup during my one week trip, I really relished the one prepared by the hotel. In general, it had a velvety texture with tiny bits of blended lentils that gave an interesting, yet much welcomed contrast. It was truly a comfort food.

Assorted Stuff #1

A wide variety of fresh and aged cheese was on the display, catering to the different palates of the guests. The meat slices were cold and delicious, and the pickled vegetables were refreshingly sour.

Assorted Stuff #2

Scrambled eggs are what I'm always looking forward to whenever having a breakfast buffet in a hotel. Much to my content, the ones served there were delectably creamy, going well with the sausage in tomato sauce. The onion rings were truly crispy, and equally so were the uniquely-shaped French toast. The vegetables were juicy.

Assorted Stuff #3

All of the items shown in the picture above were good. The Turkish bread encrusted with sesame seeds, known as simit, was crispy and aromatic, having cheese smacked in its middle section. Other than that, the chocolate cake and the pineapple danish were addictive. It was really fun slicing the honeycomb for myself.

Dessert & Fruits

Honestly speaking, I still can't decipher what the pinkish jelly-like item was. It tasted pleasantly sweet, but not something that I'd ever tried before. The various fruits were fresh and juicy.

Lime & Orange Juice

Either the lime or the orange juice was refreshing and thirst-quenching. While not 100% squeezed fruit juice for sure, each of them was certainly far from being a cheap cordial drink.

Melon's Rating
Taste: 8/10
Ambience: 8/10
Overall: 8/10

It was, hands down, the best breakfast buffet I've ever had in my life. Thank you for such a sumptuous meal to kickstart the day. Pika's advice: You should really consider this hotel if you need to be near the Istanbul Ataturk Airport, which is quite a distance away from the old city. Even though it's a 5* hotel, it's not exorbitant.
