SIN: The Coastal Settlement

Image
Have you tried mayonnaise infused with passion fruit before? The Coastal Settlement is a lovely restaurant decorated with all things of the past, from antique memorabilia to vintage vehicles. Tucked away in the quieter side of Netheravon Road, which isn't too far from the abandoned Changi Hospital, the building was previously used by the Royal Air Force for fault control during the British occupation.

SIN: Thai Accent

Image
Truly fresh and flavourful steamed sea bass! One fine evening, not having a specific restaurant in mind while walking about at Singapore's largest shoping mall, i.e. VivoCity, I decided to walk into Thai Accent. It was only until I was seated that I checked the reviews given to the Thai restaurant online, which appear to be pretty much promising.

SIN: Wang Ji 268 Seafood Restaurant

Image
I couldn't stop popping the garlic chicken into my mouth! Wang Ji 268 Seafood Restaurant used to be at 45 Sims Drive. When I went back after a year to have their delicious garlic chicken dish again, I was surprised to see that it's no longer there. After a quick search online, I'm glad that they're still around, moving to Shan Ding Coffee Shop at 45 Syed Alwi Road.

SIN: The Wild Restaurant

Image
Yummy chicken with aromatic pesto sauce and a dash of lemon! Have you been to a small shopping mall called Westway before? It's located across the road where Haw Par Villa is. One fine afternoon after a relaxing stroll at the park formerly known as the Tiger Balm Garden, I had a lunch with a friend of mine at The Wild Restaurant at Westway.

SIN: Tin Hill Social Kitchen & Bar

Image
That was a pretty awesome smoked pork belly sandwich! Situated at Turf Club Road near the horse stables, Tin Hill Social Kitchen and Bar offers a relaxing ambience for its patrons to have a meal or simply chill out with a glass of drink or two. As I looked at the website just now, it appears that the eatery has made some changes to the menu. Nevertheless, all the items that I tried that day are still available.

SIN: Sushi Goshin

Image
What a delicious unagi bento with mouth-watering fried swordfish! Hello, folks! I'm finally home! I'll definitely be writing about my food adventure during my overseas trip, but before that, let's take a look at this particular Japanese restaurant that's under the Akashi group. I happened to have some Robinson vouchers that were going to expire soon, hence the decision to try Sushi Goshin out.

SIN: Omnivore

Image
Filling salad set with quality meat! As many are getting more conscious about healthy eating these days, there are lots of salad places cropping up out there. One of my most favourite stalls is Omnivore at Chevron House, which offers value-for-money  Small Set with a base price of S$9.90  that includes one protein, one carbohydrate or vegetable, three toppings and one dressing.

SIN: Erich's Wuerstelstand [Delivery]

Image
"The last sausage kiosk before the equator" A German sausage stall in the heart of Chinatown - sounds cool enough? As one walks past the stall, one will see the chef in his uniform, whipping up various sausage dishes to curious customers. I'm not sure how true is the tagline though.

SIN: Xin Yue

Image
Yummy noodle with fresh crab meat, but the portion can be bigger~ Focusing mainly on Cantonese cuisine with a touch of modernity and creative interpretation, Xin Yue is helmed by an award-winning chef by the name of Fung Chi Keung. It's known that he spearheaded the first fine dining concept of the Paradise Group: Taste Paradise.

SIN: Spice Corner [Delivery]

Image
Have you heard of the Indonesian 'submarine fish cake' before? There are days when you're feeling lazy to cook or go out. Yesterday was one of them. Craving for Indonesian food, I decided to check out what Spice Corner, a Kopitiam stall at Plaza Singapura, has got to offer. I think I tried something from that stall a few years ago, though I can't remember much.

SIN: The Forgotten Recipe

Image
Moist beef meatballs with spicy creamy sauce, anyone? Helmed by Chef Ryan, The Forgotten Recipe aims to "celebrate our past, remember our roots and savour our memories" by serving traditional food cooked the original way, while some of them are upgraded into fusion cuisine.

SIN: Cocoa Colony

Image
Super thick and rich 'liquid gold'! A brand conceptualised by two Singaporean women, albeit having the first outlet in Shanghai, Cocoa Colony is the place for cocoa drink lovers. Dubbed as the 'Amazonian liquid gold', the cocoa beverages are certainly not to be missed out.

SIN: Dulcet & Studio {MOVED}

Image
Matcha and salted egg yolk in a croissant! UPDATE (26/05/2020):  With the closure of Liang Court, the restaurant has moved to UIC Building at 5 Shenton Way. Happy birthday, Melon! Have you noticed that her birthday is exactly two weeks after Pikachu's? Anyway, on this special occasion, I brought her to the highly rated Western-Japanese fusion eatery named Dulcet & Studio, which is part of the Tampopo group.

SIN: Mid-Autumn 2016 Mooncakes @ TCC

Image
A nice blend of fragrant osmanthus and refreshing yuzu in a mooncake! How many of us can recall offhand the full name of TCC? Prior to the act of writing this review, I couldn't. Anyway, The Connoisseur Concerto offers its selection of eight snowskin mooncake flavours to keep your sweet tooth sated this season of joy.

SIN: Oppa Chicken [Delivery]

Image
Good garlic stuff: honey garlic chicken and garlic fried rice! With so many Korean fried chicken joints around the island, one is certainly spoilt for choice. While I'm not so crazy about those seasoned chicken, I suppose it won't harm trying once in a while. Not far from my house is Oppa Chicken, which has just turned a year old at the point of writing.

SIN: PastAmore

Image
Decent fettuccine with pink sauce, but not enough mushrooms... When I first heard the name of the restaurant, I thought that was 'pasta' joined with 'more'. After looking more closely to the capitalisation in the middle, I've eventually come to a realisation that the name is actually a concatenation of 'pasta' and the Italian word for 'love':  amore .

SIN: Well Dressed Salad Bar & Café [Delivery]

Image
What a well-dressed vegan matcha cake with matcha icing! Following the last delivery food review, I'm going to feature another vegetarian option in the Chinatown area. The eatery is located below Eight Treasures Vegetarian Restaurant that serves great food, but I haven't written about it in this blog.

SIN: Sofra Turkish Café & Restaurant

Image
Authentic Turkish cuisine, including unique chocolate pudding with marshmallow! Literally meaning 'dining table' in Turkish, Sofra has stood the test of time. Its history dates back to 8 January 2000, and it has still drawn lots of customers looking for authentic Turkish cuisine till date.
