SIN: The Whale Tea [Takeaway]

Image
Fancy a blue whale? I can count with the fingers on one hand the number of times I get a drink from a specialty drink store in a year or perhaps more. Therefore, today's post is something rather rare. Originating from Nanjing, The Whale Tea is one of the largest beverage and dessert stores in China, offering something different than the usual bubble tea.

HKG: Mimi Desserts (甜蜜蜜)

Image
Would you like some chocolate sauce on your tofu pudding? :P To end off this current series of reviews of HK eateries, let's go back to Victoria Peak. An attractive-looking shop at the entrance of The Peak Tower, Mimi Desserts offers an array of traditional and modern beverages, as well as dessert items for the sweet tooth. Anyway, does the Chinese name of the shop remind you of that old song by Teresa Teng?

SIN: Starbucks

Image
Is the breakfast set from the leading coffee chain worth it? I'm not the kind of person who goes to Starbucks regularly. In fact, I can count with my fingers the number of times I drop by the famous coffee chain every year. What I really fancy is the smooth and creamy green tea latte, but the focus of this review is on the Breakfast Set  that's available until 11.30am on weekdays and 2.30pm on weekends and public holidays.

IDN: Calypso Floating Bar @ Nirwana Gardens

Image
Can Bintan Sling beat Singapore Sling? Time seemed to slow down a little bit on our first day at Bintan Island, Indonesia. After enjoying the rejuvenating sea breeze and the soothing sound of waves, we made our way to Calypso Floating Bar, which is located next to a popular seafood restaurant that I'm going to review next. We were just in time for a quick drink before dinner, enjoying the magnificent view of sunset.

SIN: Boost Juice Bars

Image
Watermelon lychee crush to beat the hot weather! Hailing from Australia, Boost Juice Bars has come a long way from its humble origin to more than 300 outlets worldwide. It provides not only the usual selection of juice, but also other beverages that are guaranteed to be made of fresh ingredients daily. The Australian website boasts the use of "7 million bananas, 6 million oranges, 3 million apples, 3 million carrots, 100,000 celery bunches, 600,000 pineapples, 900 tonnes of watermelon, 20 million strawberries, 1 million whole mangoes, 9 million raspberries, 30 million blueberries, and 2 million passion fruits" every year.

FRA: Choco Story

Image
It's a chocolate museum! I didn't know there exists a chocolate museum in Paris until I saw its pamphlet in the hostel I stayed. I was glad I could convince some friends to come with me to the museum. By paying an additional €3.00 ( ~S$5.25 ) to the entrance fee, you'll get a cup of hot chocolate drink at the end of the visit. The chocolate block was dunked into a cup of hot milk until it melted. Here's the interesting part... Have you ever tried the original Aztec recipe? Continue reading to find out!

SIN: Soyato

Image
Singapore's very first frozen soy! UPDATE (11/08/2012): The stall in Bugis Junction has closed down. However, you can still find Soyato at Fresh Healthy Café @ Alexandra Retail Centre and The Plant Story @ Hort Park. You don't like the sour taste of frozen yoghurt? You're craving for guilt-free ice cream? Give Soyato a try, freshly made with soy milk. Oh yes, did I tell you before that I actually hate soy milk? But anyway, since my friend said that Soyato's ice cream tasted like the usual ice cream, I gave it a try. And yup, my friend wasn't lying. For those of you who dislike soy milk, fear not!

IDN: Chatime

Tea time with bubble tea! I managed to drop by a new shopping mall in Alam Sutera, a housing complex where my school (St. Laurensia) is located, a few days before I returned to Singapore. Well, actually it wasn't my intention to drink bubble tea because my family and I just had a heavy lunch at Bakmi GM (cool, there's an even nearer branch to home now!). It was my greedy sister's idea haha, whoops...

SIN: Once Upon a Milkshake

Image
Sinful post-result indulgence! UPDATE (20/8/2014):  The establishment has closed down. I've just received my NUS exam results for Academic Year 2011/2012 Semester 2, and I'm glad that I've improved! To celebrate, I went out with friends for lunch and to get our dose of milkshake and ice cream after submitting my passport to the French Embassy for visa purposes. I've seen in HungryGoWhere that people have only reviewed the more common flavours (i.e. vanilla, chocolate, etc.) from Once Upon a Milkshake (OUAM), so today I tried the more unusual flavours!
