SIN: Kwan Inn Vegetarian [Delivery]

Image
Take your pick: mock beef, chicken, duck or pork? Even though I'm not a vegetarian, much less a vegan, I occasionally indulge in vegetarian food. Founded in the 1990s, Kwan Inn Vegetarian has been providing vegetarian food at affordable prices, starting with only one stall at 269 Queen Street in Bugis. At the point of writing, there are three other stalls, including one housed inside People's Park Centre in Chinatown.

MAS: Kek Lok Si Vegetarian Restaurant

Image
Mostly Chinese dishes, but lovely Indian curry! My family and I, as well as my friend and his mother, started exploring Penang, Malaysia on the second day after arrival. First things first, we went to Kek Lok Si Temple, which is the largest Buddhist temple complex in Malaysia that was built from 1890 to 1930. We had lunch at a vegetarian restaurant within the complex.

SIN: Well Dressed Salad Bar & Café [Delivery]

Image
What a well-dressed vegan matcha cake with matcha icing! Following the last delivery food review, I'm going to feature another vegetarian option in the Chinatown area. The eatery is located below Eight Treasures Vegetarian Restaurant that serves great food, but I haven't written about it in this blog.

SIN: Real Food [Delivery]

Image
Healthy food that's vegetarian and organic in nature made from scratch! Welcome to another having-food-delivered-for-dinner post, thanks to FoodPanda for the free delivery promotion that's still running till 22 May 2016. A tiny café at The Central above Clarke Quay MRT station, Real Food aims to serve organic vegetarian food at affordable prices. Artificial preservatives? Processed ingredients? What are those?

SIN: Joie by Dozo

Image
Beautiful 'sashimi' and cake made of matsutake, anyone? Aptly described as a "sanctuary above the bustle of the busy Orchard shopping district", Joie (pronounced 'joy') by Dozo offers a fine dining experience that promises to satisfy not only the stomach, but also the eyes. Look at the picture below.

SIN: nomVnom

Image
Vegan burgers with international flavours! Do you know the difference between vegan and vegetarian diet? Some of my ex-students used to think that both terms are interchangeable, while others thought that the former would refer the person, while the latter would be used to describe a lifestyle or a dish without meat. nomVnom is a vegan - not vegetarian - fast-food eatery within a stone's throw away from Telok Ayer MRT station.

SIN: Café Salivation

Image
Vegetarian spring roll filled with ricotta cheese! Café Salivation is a vegetarian eatery serving a selection of MSG-free international cuisine, using only sunflower and olive oil. Previously situated somewhere along Syed Alwi Road, a haven of vegetarian food, it has moved to Race Course Road. Its proximity to Farrer Park MRT station is definitely a plus point.

SIN: Honzen Café {MOVED}

Image
Feast for the eyes: dragon fruit fried rice! UPDATE (29/06/2014):  The eatery has moved to 41 Sam Leong Road. I apologise for being tardy in updating my blog. I've been caught up with laboratory work lately, and I barely have the time to relax. Today's review is on another vegetarian eatery located just opposite of the Bugis Junction taxi stand. I believe Honzen Café and Lemon Tree Bistro , judging from the similar decor of the two eateries.

SIN: Loving Hut {MOVED}

Image
Have you tried vegetarian 'pho'  before? UPDATE (04/03/2016):  The eatery has moved to 229 Joo Chiat Road. Loving Hut is one of the largest, fastest growing families of vegan restaurants in the world, having established numerous branches over more than 20 countries from the East to the West. There are currently two branches in Singapore. I remember seeing one branch in town in HK when I was on a leisurely bus ride (ahh, those days...).

SIN: Nature's Vegetarian Delight

Image
Mock prawns at their best! Vegetarian food isn't without its charm. At Nature's Vegetarian Delight located on the 4th floor of Upper Serangoon Shopping Centre, you'll be spoilt for choice with international vegetarian cuisine drawn from various parts of the world. Anyway, can you guess what's in the picture below without looking at the name?

HKG: Po Lin Monastery Vegetarian Kitchen

Image
Vegetarian treat after climbing up to the Big Buddha! I just found the lines from the website to be pretty interesting: "After a visit to the Big Buddha and having climbed up and down the long flight of stone steps, you will be forgiven for feeling a bit weak and sore in the legs. Nothing would beat a lull and a cup of tea in the monastery’s vegetarian kitchen and enjoy the special delicacy of vegetarian dishes of the monastery." :)

HKG: Chi Lin Vegetarian

Image
Mushrooms galore! Situated in the middle of Nan Lian Garden, a garden styled after the Tang Dynasty next to Chi Lin Nunnery, Chi Lin Vegetarian prides itself in serving Cantonese style vegetarian food.

HKG: Bookworm Café

Image
Read and indulge in organic vegetarian food! I have to apologise to Bookworm Café for overlooking the set of pictures I took when I had my brunch there. Thankfully, I realised that last night. Tucked in a small street in Yung Shue Wan village in Lamma Island (despite the name being Yung Shue Wan Main Street), the humble café serves organic vegetarian food, and is popular among the expatriates.
