IDN: Ta Wan

Image
Delectable chicken, fish and shrimp porridge! Boldly claiming to be one of the best restaurants in Jakarta, Indonesia, Ta Wan is a Chinese restaurant chain that has been around since 1996. Literally meaning 'Big Bowl', it specialises in porridge. I had a really good dinner at its Mall Taman Anggrek branch without having to dig deep into my pocket, so read on to find out more.

IDN: Kafe Betawi

Image
Fermented cassava - it'd been a while! How many of you enjoy sampling street food out there? However, it can sometimes be a struggle of whether to try or not, especially if you've got a weak stomach. Kafe Betawi in Indonesia, having quite a number of branches in Jakarta and elsewhere, brings together the diverse street food and main dishes in a restaurant setting that you can try without worrying too much about hygiene.

IDN: Liberty Hotel Thamrin [Breakfast]

Image
Is Dante Coffee served at breakfast? One of the reasons why I decided to stay in Jakarta, Indonesia for a few days before going back to Singapore was to try its new metro system. Located in the CBD area, Liberty Hotel Thamrin (3*) is literally just a minute away from Dukuh Atas BNI MRT station. Buffet breakfast is served at a branch of Dante Coffee housed inside the hotel.

IDN: Ayam Goreng Suharti

Image
Tasty fried chicken with addictive crispy bits! Are you a fan of fried chicken? Ayam Goreng Suharti in Indonesia serves delicious fried chicken topped with a generous amount of crispy bits that'll surely make you crave for more. I visited one of its branches in Jakarta in December 2019. They are also available in a few other cities, although are mostly concentrated in the island of Java.

IDN: J Hotel [Breakfast]

Image
I love thick Indonesian chicken congee! Here's the last post to wrap up my December 2018 food adventure series. Before flying back to Singapore, my BFF and I spent a night at J Hotel (3*) in Jakarta, Indonesia, which is located within 15 minutes from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport by car. The hotel serves buffet breakfast from 5.00am daily.

IDN: Lembur Kuring

Image
Truly 'sedap' (lit. delicious) grilled carp! My BFF and I were back in Jakarta, Indonesia for a one-day stopover after our rather short journey to the Middle East and Africa. For dinner, we wanted to have a seafood meal, so we went to a highly rated restaurant called Lembur Kuring, which is located not far from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

IDN: Pondok Laguna

Image
Crispy deep-fried carp with delicious 'sambal cobek'! If there's anything I miss from Indonesia, it's Sundanese cuisine. For the uninitiated, the Sundanese are native to the western part of the island of Java. Before leaving for Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, my BFF and I made a stop at Pondok Laguna, which isn't far from Yello Hotel Harmoni . We had a satisfying lunch there.

IDN: Yello Hotel Harmoni [Breakfast]

Image
Say "Yello!" to yummy local dishes for breakfast! My BFF and I spent a night at the trendy Yello Hotel Harmoni (3*) in Jakarta, Indonesia before flying back to Singapore the following day. Given that yellow is its corporate colour, it's apt that the hotel serves nasi kuning (Indonesian yellow rice) at the buffet counter for breakfast.

IDN: Angke Restaurant

Image
Stunning deep-fried pockets filled with creamy mayonnaise shrimps! Another eatery that has stood the test of time is Angke Restaurant, which is known to be one of the most sought-after places for wedding banquets in Jakarta, Indonesia. From its humble beginning of having only three dining tables, this particular restaurant whips up Hakka cuisine among others.

IDN: Hotel Santika Premiere Hayam Wuruk [Breakfast]

Image
A huge spread of international cuisine for breakfast, but tasted so-so... For the one night stay at the heart of the capital city of Indonesia, I decided to give Hotel Santika Premiere Hayam Wuruk (4*) a try. It's a 10-minute drive from Grand Indonesia, which is one of the largest shopping malls in Southeast Asia as I mentioned before in my review on Artotel Jakarta  (3*).

IDN: Gandy Steak House

Image
Truly aromatic bread from its own bakery to kickstart the steak dinner~ A Western style restaurant that has stood the test of time, Gandy Steak House has been around since the 1980s. Honestly, I can't remember when was the last time I went there prior to my recent trip to Jakarta, Indonesia, but the experience has literally left an indelible mark on my forearm that accidentally landed itself on the bull-shaped hotplate.

IDN: Artotel Jakarta [Breakfast]

Image
Rely on the salad and yogurt only... An boutique hotel inspired by art, the eponymous Artotel Jakarta (3*) is what I consider to be within a walking distance to Grand Indonesia, one of the largest shopping malls in Southeast Asia. That also means it isn't far away from the historical Selamat Datang Monument in the heart of the capital city along the main avenue of Jalan M. H. Thamrin.

IDN: Sentral Restaurant

Image
A splendid array of cold appetiser items! When I had the time to go back to Jakarta, Indonesia a few weeks ago, the ritual of going to Bakmi GM was done as usual. However, not only that, I also took the chance to bring my family to Sentral Restaurant, one of the restaurants which has forever evoked childhood memories within me. Founded in 1979, it has stood the test of time, and is popular among many.

IDN: Rotiboy Bakeshoppe

Image
"One is never enough... Buns to die for!" Sorry for being tardy in updating my blog lately; there's been quite a number of stuff preventing me from even sitting in front of my laptop nowadays. Anyway, today I'm going to write a short review on Rotiboy Bakeshoppe that hails from Malaysia. The bakery has more than 50 outlets in Indonesia, but none is left  here in Singapore. :/

IDN: Nasi Campur Akiong

Image
Aromatic roasted pork belly! I was craving for a nice Chinese nasi campur when I was in Indonesia in July. The Chinese Indonesian nasi campur is one of the dishes I've been craving for (yes, even now). Without further ado, I'll introduce to you what it's all about.

IDN: Kwali Solo

Image
Fried chicken worth trying! Internet connection seems pretty reliable today, and so I'll write a quick review of a restaurant in Jakarta which offers authentic Indonesian, in particular, Javanese cuisine. However, to be honest, I'm not really a big fan of Indonesian food.

IDN: Bakmi GM

Image
Delicious Halal noodles and rice dishes! Alright, this is going to be my first post on the series of restaurants based in Indonesia. As I've mentioned in my Facebook status two days ago, I'll begin with the eatery which I've visited, at least, one hundred times in my life. Everytime I go back to Indonesia, I'll drop by this eatery once (or twice).
