THA: Louis' Tavern CIP Lounge (Near Gate G2) @ Suvarnabhumi Airport

Image
There's always a queue at the automatic pancake machine! After an overnight stay at a hotel that we didn't book at, my BFF and I found ourselves back at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, Thailand. More details as to what exactly happened will be in my travel blog some time in the near future. Prior to flying with Hong Kong Airlines again, we visited one of the six Louis' Tavern CIP Lounges.

THA: Bangkok Airways International Boutique Lounge @ Suvarnabhumi Airport

Image
Free flow rice crackers and addictive iced coffee! My BFF and I were going to fly again instead of spending time at Bangkok, Thailand for holiday. We made the conscientious decision to try out several airlines last December to the point of having to fly round and round. Bangkok Airways offers lounge access to all its passengers, so let's take a look at the snacks offered inside the boutique lounge at Suvarnabhumi Airport.

THA: Nuer Koo

Image
A premium beef noodle eatery, where you can go for imported Kobe beef! :P To end off the short trip to Bangkok, Thailand, my BFF and I decided to drop by Siam Paragon, one of the biggest shopping centres in Asia, again after four years. The purpose was to try a more upscale beef noodle, elevated from the traditional street food, at Nuer Koo.

THA: QG Resort [Breakfast]

Image
Authentic Thai dishes with organic ingredients in a quaint little resort! A small family-run resort owned by a burly and friendly British man, QG Resort (2*) in Bangkok, Thailand has been given lots of thumbs up online by many customers. Providing a free transfer to and from Suvarnabhumi Airport, it's no doubt a comfortable place to catch a good sleep, especially so when one is transiting.

THA: Holiday Inn Express: Bangkok Siam [Breakfast]

Image
Fresh vegetables from the salad bar, but any Grab & Go service available? Prior to the recent trip to Bangkok, Thailand, I'd never stayed at any of Holiday Inn properties. Hence, my experience at Holiday Inn Express: Bangkok Siam (3*) was the first. Strategically located in the heart of Siam, next to National Stadium BTS sky train station, it features 300 rooms, as well as a rooftop garden.

THA: BBQ Stall @ Sukhumvit Soi 38

Image
Alluring smoky aroma of BBQ meat and seafood from the first stall! I've been hearing about the small food paradise that's Sukhumvit Soi 38 in Bangkok, Thailand. In today's short and hopefully sweet review, I'm featuring the BBQ stall, which is the very first stall that you'll see on the right-hand side of the alley.

THA: Royal View Resort [Breakfast]

Image
Whipped cream with maple syrup, anyone? :P Royal View Resort (3*) may look mundane from the outside, but I was pretty impressed with the clean, spacious room (for the relatively cheap price paid) and the service rendered by the hotel staff. It's located within walking distance to King Power Duty Free Complex, Victory Monument and its corresponding BTS station.

THA: Yum Saap

Image
Mouth-watering mango salad... How hot you want it to be? First of all, happy birthday, Singapore! "Night fall, stars twinkling on the bay / My dreams can take flight if I dare / There’s a feeling that binds us one and all / We look forward to a brighter day." :) Alright, during my Bangkok trip, I've seen quite a number of Yum Saap branches which serve Thai food. I came across one of the branches when I was walking around inside MBK Centre which is very popular among tourists.

THA: The Canton House

Image
Har gow with embellishments! As I strolled down Yaowarat Road in the heart of Bangkok's Chinatown, I observed the endless row of restaurants. Since I had eaten too much for breakfast, I was looking for a simple lunch. When I saw the menu, I couldn't help but say this to myself, "Wow, this is gonna be the cheapest dim sum meal in my life!"

THA: First Hotel [Breakfast]

Image
Braised soy sauce egg so fragrant! First Hotel (3*) is more or less a self-contained hotel with a few restaurants, travel agencies and even a hair salon. Located within walking distance to the BTS Ratchathewi station, it has two buildings: the Main Wing and the newer Tower Wing.

THA: Taling Pling

Image
A nice start with lemongrass and fried fish salad! Most of the restaurants in Siam Paragon were full-house on a Saturday night, and the food court was even worse with groups of people waiting to occupy the seats of those who were about to finish their meals. However, I was lucky enough to get a seat in Taling Pling, a restaurant serving Thai food which has four branches in Bangkok.

THA: Krua Apsorn

Image
Nice contrast between the green and yellow curries! Looking for authentic Thai food loved by the Thai royal family? Come to Krua Apsorn (lit. Kitchen of the Angels), which chef has previously served Princess Mother Srinagarindra and her daughter, Princess Galayani Vadhana, who is the sister of King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Krua Apsorn is always packed during lunch and dinner hours, and I have to admit that the eatery may be a bit difficult to find for tourists.

THA: Bangkok City Inn [Breakfast]

Image
Free flow chicken rice, anyone? Strategically located in the heart of the city, Bangkok City Inn (3*) is within walking distance to CentralWorld, Erawan Shrine and Pratunam Market, but to name a few. It's also close to the expressway and the skytrain.

THA: Phan-Khom Contemporary Thai Cuisine

Image
Massaman chicken curry - one of the most delicious food in the world? I chanced upon Phan-Khom when I was looking for a nice, quiet dinner in CentralWorld, the third largest shopping complex in the world. Actually, I was taken in by the word 'contemporary', as well as the fact that the restaurant wasn't fully occupied.

THA: FoodLoft @ Central Chidlom

Image
Chilly lemongrass drink to freshen up! From Thai to Greek cuisine, Chinese to Indian dishes, you can discover a lot of things under one roof. Having an open kitchen concept, FoodLoft allows customers to see the cooking process in each of the stalls. You'll get a card as soon as you enter the restaurant, which you give to the staff when you get something from one of the stalls for he/she to register your order. When you leave, you give the card to the cashier and pay for your food.

THA: China Town Restaurant

Image
Highly aromatic chrysanthemum drink! Welcome to Bangkok! Finally we've added {Thailand - THA} as a new label in this blog. Lined with tables full of Chinese characters, China Town Restaurant was the first eatery I patronised when I reached Suvarnabhumi International Airport, one of the two international airports in Bangkok.
