Have you tried couscous made of fermented cassava before? We've come to the last post on Bamako, Mali, and most likely there won't be any more in the future. Before leaving for another African country, my BFF and I had our last meal at African Grill during lunch time. It's a no-frills eatery located within the premise of National Museum of Mali.

Located within the premise of the peaceful Mali National Park, Restaurant Balasoko serves French cuisine.

MLI: Azalai Grand Hotel [Breakfast]

Breakfast with UN and French peacekeeping soldiers around! My BFF and I only stayed for two nights in Bamako, Mali. The room that we booked at Azalai Grand Hotel (4*) didn't include buffet breakfast. As I wouldn't want to miss this opportunity to let all of you know about its quality, I decided to give it a try with my BFF on our last day by paying  CFA 9,000  (~ S$20.95)  each.

Trying two Malian and two Senegalese main courses! "You went to Mali? Are you crazy?" was the question that many people raised in disbelief. Yes, I did, dragging my BFF along. Our time in the Western African country was short, and twice we actually had dinner at Restaurant Azalai inside Azalai Grand Hotel (4*) where we were staying at.

Not a single visit to Japan without 'ekiben'! A portmanteau of eki (lit. station) and bento (Japanese meal box), ekiben  has long been an icon of Japanese culinary culture. I know the meal boxes are served at room temperature, but I'm always drawn to them, thanks in part to their exquisite presentation. My family bought some from Ekiben Tabi Bento situated within Kyoto station to savour them for lunch, not inside a train, but in the comfort of our hotel room.
