MEX: Guacamole Grill

Image
Trying out two unfamiliar Mexican dishes! From Canada, we shall move on to Cancun, Mexico. Despite our initial intent to spend some leisurely time along the beach, unforeseen circumstances forced my BFF and me to scramble our travel plan. Nevertheless, we made the most of our very limited time indulging in some Mexican cuisine at the airport branch of Guacamole Grill before boarding our flight to Panama.

SIN: Guzman y Gomez

Image
"Tell your taste buds their siesta is over!" Guzman y Gomez is a chain of eateries specialising in Mexican food. I started picking up Spanish just recently. Knowing that the word y means 'and', I suppose it's founded by two people named Guzman and Gomez. At the point of writing, there are five branches across the island. I visited the one at Tanjong Pagar.

SIN: J8 Hotel [Breakfast]

Image
Cooked-to-order main course and mini buffet for breakfast! It's just come to my realisation that I've been keeping a few completed posts as drafts without publishing them. I went for a staycation at J8 Hotel (3*), which is located in Jalan Besar area, before this terrible COVID-19 year. For breakfast, each guest gets to choose a main course and enjoy some free-flow items from the mini buffet line.

CAN: The Templeton

Image
The best pulled pork quesadilla I've ever had thus far! It's been a long time since I went to a typical North American diner. To relive the long lost experience, I went to The Templeton for a quick dinner with my BFF. The old-school diner is located along the busy Granville Street in the entertainment district of Vancouver, Canada.

SIN: Santa Fe Tex-Mex Grill

Image
Virgin experience with chicken 'chimichanga'! Having stood the test of time since 1999, Santa Fe Tex-Mex Grill continues to serve Texan-Mexican cuisine. Used to be operating in one of the shophouses along Boat Quay, it's currently housed in the main deck of Stewords Riverboat at Marina South Pier. Enjoy your meal on a wooden table with old-school songs in the background.

IDN: Dino Bistro @ Nirwana Gardens

Image
A decent, but plain-looking asparagus risotto... For an eclectic selection of Eastern and Western dishes, Dino Bistro at the Nirwana Resort Hotel lobby may be an eatery to consider while staying at the resort. It's mentioned in the website that there's a live acoustic performance in the evening to complete your dining experience.

SIN: Cocoa Colony

Image
Super thick and rich 'liquid gold'! A brand conceptualised by two Singaporean women, albeit having the first outlet in Shanghai, Cocoa Colony is the place for cocoa drink lovers. Dubbed as the 'Amazonian liquid gold', the cocoa beverages are certainly not to be missed out.

JPN: Rinken's Kitchen (リンケンズキッチン)

Image
Sumptuous Okinawan dishes with zesty live performance! Rinken's Kitchen is a renowned restaurant that's situated next to the Sunset Beach at Chatan in the central part of Okinawa, Japan. It's frequently visited by not only international, but also domestic tourists looking to discover unique Okinawan food and music.

SIN: Tart Blanc

Image
A happy marriage between peach and salted egg yolk! Let's take a short break from Turkish food as it's Pikachu's and my birthday! In spite of the current not-so-good situation I'm currently facing, I took a bit of time off in the afternoon for a simple celebration with my BFF. Tart Blanc is a small café tucked in a row of shops in Millenia Walk with its unsurprising, unmistakable white interior.

SIN: Myra's @ The Stadium

Image
Where North Indian and Mexican dishes coexist harmoniously~ Can you imagine stuffing yourself with North Indian and Mexican food under one roof. Well, you don't have to. Simply head down to Myra's at either East Coast Park (Myra's Beach Club) or Kallang Wave (Myra's @ The Stadium). I chanced upon the latter while taking a stroll around the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

SIN: The Soup Spoon

Image
A soup named after a famous American music duo? The Soup Spoon opened its first outlet at Raffles City in 2002, growing rapidly to a total of 20 branches in Singapore and 3 branches in Jakarta, Indonesia as of now. The aroma of freshly made soup wafting in the air enticed me to give it a try when I was looking for a simple dinner at Bugis Junction.

SIN: Baja Fresh Mexican Grill

Image
Quick Mexican fare with free tortilla chips! Today's review shall be the last one of the month, and cheers for the fact that it's the first review with the label 'Mexican'! A fast casual chain of Tex-Mex restaurants, Baja Fresh was founded in California in 1990, currently having branches in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and Singapore as well.
