AZE: McDonald's

Image
I'm already missing the cherry pie! The very first meal that my BFF and I had in the capital city of Azerbaijan was nowhere near traditional cuisine. As usual, I'm always interested in trying at least one fast food chains whenever I go overseas, and the choice was McDonald's for dinner. We ordered a few items that can't be found in Singapore.

AZE: Center City Hotel Baku [Breakfast]

Image
Free-flow strawberries to sweeten your day! Given my short leisure trip to Baku, Azerbaijan, my BFF and I only stayed at one hotel that's just a stone's throw from the old city area known as Icherisheher. Center City Hotel Baku (3*) is an affordable hotel that offers pretty basic, but delectable enough buffet breakfast similar to that can be found in equivalent hotels in Turkey.

SIN: Azerbaijan Airlines J2 76 (Economy)

Image
Triple cheese in Economy Class! Has anyone flown Azerbaijan Airlines before? From my personal experience, it's possibly the most generous airline in terms of food and beverages in the Economy Class. My BFF and I had filling lunch when we flew from Istanbul, Turkey to Baku, the capital city of the nation that was once part of the Soviet Union.

SIN: Singapore Airlines SQ392 (Premium Economy)

Image
Delicious Indonesian 'nasi uduk' with chili prawns! The middle of this year saw me doing a long-haul flight in the Premium Economy Class cabin of Singapore Airlines' Airbus 350-900 aircraft for the first time. In fact, it was also my first time flying directly to Istanbul, Turkey from Singapore. In general, I enjoyed the two meal services: supper and breakfast.

SIN: SATS Premier Lounge Terminal 3 @ Changi Airport T3

Image
Make your own 'laksa' before flying off! When was the last time I posted on an airline lounge? Today's post shall kickstart the short series on post-COVID-19 pandemic travel to Azerbaijan, a country in the Caucasus that was formerly part of the Soviet Union. I could finally make use of my Priority Pass membership once again to have dinner before flying off from our beloved Changi Airport.

SIN: Mid-Autumn 2022 Mooncakes @ The Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore

Image
The hotel's signature cocktail in a truffle! This year's Mid-Autumn Festival is around the corner, and that means a post on mooncakes is in order. I didn't have much difficulty choosing, for the assorted snowskin mooncakes offered by The Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore (5*) caught my attention early last month. Two boozy and three non-boozy flavours are offered this time round.

SIN: McDonald's {National Day 2022} [Takeaway]

Of 'laksa', 'pulut hitam' and 'teh C'! Hi, folks! It's been a while since my last update. I'm still in the midst of tidying up the photos from my last trip, so stay tuned! For today, let's talk about McDonald's again. In conjunction with Singapore's 57th National Day this year, our local Golden Arches decided to infuse local elements into some of their items.

See You Again Soon! :)

Hi, everyone! I hope all of you're doing fine in the midst of all the crises and uncertainties that we're facing at the moment. As life has been getting really hectic on my side lately, I've come to a decision to take a break from blog writing. This isn't the first time actually, and I know I'll definitely be back. As always, thank you for supporting my personal, non-professional food and travel blogs. Take care, and as the title says, see you again soon! :)

SIN: Nasi Lemak Ayam Taliwang @ Yishun Park Hawker Centre

Image
A love story between a Singaporean and an Indonesian~ Hailing from Lombok, Indonesia, ayam taliwang is a spicy grilled chicken dish said to be invented in the 1970s. The combination of ayam taliwang and  nasi lemak  (Malay rice dish cooked in coconut milk with pandan leaves), which can be found at Yishun Park Hawker Centre, was conceived by a Singaporean-Indonesian couple who used to work as flight attendants.

SIN: Vanda Terrace [Breakfast]

Image
Breakfast with a golf course view~ Last year, I had the opportunity to go for a 2D1N staycation at the serene Orchid Country Club (4*) as I managed to score a fantastic deal. The room rate didn't include breakfast, but I went for a la carte breakfast at one of the eateries called Vanda Terrace. Breakfast items are served there from 7.30am to 11.00am daily.

SIN: Elemen {Lunar New Year 2022}

Image
Bring out more of the explosive Red Hot Firecracker! Happy Lunar New Year to those celebrating this joyous occasion despite the unrelenting COVID-19 pandemic! May the courage and the strength of the Water Tiger carry us through our journey ahead. For reunion dinner, I went back to one of my favourite vegetarian restaurants two months after Christmas in 2021 with friends. Say hello to panda-in-bamboo for making its debut here! No, it's not the elusive Bao Bao in Google Pay.

SIN: Café Coco

Image
A satisfying brunch after exploring the Cloud Forest for the first time! CafĂ© Coco is an all-day brunch eatery serving a selection of sweet and savoury dishes, which is nestled inside SuperTree Food Hall at Gardens by the Bay. It also concocts its own bottled cold brew drinks, such as French Lavender Latte  priced at S$8.00 and its earl grey tea counterpart, which makes use of TWG tea and costs a dollar more than the former.

SIN: Tai Cheong Bakery

Image
The legacy of Master Chef Au Yeung Tin-Yun continues~ Words can't express how much I miss HK, and I really wonder when I'll be able to go for my annual trip again. Let's talk about Tai Cheong Bakery today, which is well-known for its egg tarts. It was established in 1954 in the city state, and subsequently opened its first permanent store in Singapore in July 2016.

SIN: Lin Yu Mei @ Haig Road Market & Food Centre

Not the best 'kolo mee' experience for sure... Here's the first post of 2022! I hope everyone has been having a great start to the year so far. Following the last post on Haig Road Putu Piring  at the end of last year, I'm going to briefly touch on another stall that I patronised at Haig Road Market & Food Centre. It specialises in two noodle Sarawakian dishes from the eastern part of Malaysia: kolo mee and laksa .
