SIN: J&G Fried Chicken {CLOSED}

Good chicken nuggets, better mushrooms and best fruit tea!

UPDATE (16/10/2017): The kiosk has closed down.

Crispy chicken nuggets, anyone? Instead of serving only the more ubiquitous Taiwanese chicken cutlet, J&G Fried Chicken also prepares bite-sized chicken nuggets. Founded in Taichung, Taiwan in 1937, it opened its first outlet here in Singapore sometime last year.

The kiosk uses soybean oil for deep-frying, which is changed every 11 hours. It is guaranteed that your snacks are freshly fried upon order.

Crispy Chicken Nugget (Small) S$4.50
Taste: 8/10

Truly satisfying on the palate, the crispy, non-greasy chicken nuggets featured chicken breast that was surprisingly tender. While the spice powder was fragrant, I was actually hoping that the server wouldn't throw it in so liberally that a few parts of the nuggets became just a bit too salty.

Crispy King Oyster Mushroom S$4.00
Taste: 8/10

Bored of chicken meat? Give their oyster mushrooms a try! Even though they weren't as crispy as the chicken nuggets, the mushrooms were literally bursting its juice out as I bit onto them. Should I have only a room for one of them in the future, I think I'll go for the latter.

Iced Fruit Tea S$2.20
Taste: 8/10

I really enjoyed the iced tea which was bursting with tropical fruits, especially in such a hot weather. The combined aroma of lemon and passion fruit was particularly strong and heady. I won't hesitate to grab another cup next time.

For some people, Tiong Bahru Plaza is off the beaten path. I'm wondering if they'll open more outlets in the near future. Pika's advice: You may also want to try their Fried Fresh Squid, which is priced at S$4.60 for the small size!
