JPN: You Kitchen (ゆうキッチン)
A homely eatery scoring 9/10 overall! :D
Welcome to Okinawa, Japan! Our first destination was the Churaumi Aquarium, which is Japan's best that's second only to the Georgia Aquarium in the USA in terms of size. Located near Loisir Hotel Okinawa Churaumi is an unassuming eatery serving delicious home-cooked food.

English, Chinese and Korean translations of the menu are available. Anyway, this is a special post because we have a guest appearance. One of my BFFs agreed to bring his Agumon along. Thank you! :)
Chicken Curry Rice ¥500 (~S$6.05)
Taste: 8/10
The Japanese curry was delectably thick and sweet, marrying the sticky short-grain rice that was well-cooked. There were a few slices of carrots with only a single chunk of chicken, but it was tender. The crunchy pickled red ginger added a dimension to the dish.
Pork and Onion Rice ¥500 (~S$6.05)
Taste: 9/10
Sitting on top of the short-grain rice was highly flavourful stir-fried pork with onions and pickled red ginger strips. The majority was lean pork meat with just a few fatty ones. The caramelised onions were superbly sweet. Don't forget to add shichimi (Japanese blend of seven spices) to whet your appetite further.
Pork Bun ¥200 (~S$2.40)
Taste: 8.5/10
Even though it looked ordinary, the dough of the steamed bun was enjoyably fluffy and chewy. It didn't stick to the roof of my mouth at all.
The pork and onion filling was substantial with a nice sweet and salty balance. My BFFs and I even took away some the next morning before continuing our journey around the island by bus.

Overall: 9/10
I guess that's the highest overall rating I've ever given to an eatery so far. Well, that was a really peaceful dinner that we had that evening, followed by a heartfelt conversation with the owner of the eatery and his wife. I finally had the opportunity to practice my Japanese skills again. Oh, did I mention that he turned on the radio tape that played a relaxing melody after taking our order? Anyway, the exterior of the eatery is shown in the picture below.
Lovely interior, isn't it?
We also took a picture with the friendly owner, and we helped him correct some of the English and Chinese translations of the menu. 町川さん、お世話になって、どうもありがとうございました!
Pika's advice: Set meals that come with a drink and/or a bowl of soup are available.
