SIN: Woo Ricebox [Delivery]

Well-balanced rice boxes since 1939 in Taiwan!

To those who're familiar with FoodPanda, the online food delivery platform, do you know that currently there's a free delivery promotion till 22 May 2016? I just took advantage of it by ordering from Woo Ricebox, a fast food chain specialising in Taiwanese rice boxes.

Woo's Signature Ricebox S$7.40
Taste: 7/10

With such a captivating assortment of ingredients, the signature dish enticed me. It turned out that the supposedly star item of pork slices didn't pack a punch in terms of flavours, even though they were quite tender. The egg and beancurd, on the other hand, were braised well. The vegetables were appetisingly crunchy.

Unagi Ricebox S$13.80
Taste: 7.5/10

It's certainly not cheap, but look at that nicely glazed eel! I was glad that the Japanese style freshwater variant was adequately fresh and sweet to my liking. By the way, the beancurd and the sausage slice was hidden underneath the eel. Apart from that, for both boxes, the short-grain rice was cooked well without being dry.

Salt and Pepper Popcorn Chicken S$3.90
Taste: 8/10

I felt that the popcorn chicken was executed well, deep-fried till golden brown without losing much of its moisture. While it could use a bit more pepper, the salt accentuated the sweetness of the white meat. Pika's advice: Do take note that should you go down to the branch itself, this particular snack is reported to be available only during off-peak periods.

Melon's Rating
Taste: 7.5/10

That was an enjoyable dinner at home. I'd be interested to try the other rice boxes that they offer.
