TWN: Yu's Almond Tofu (于記杏仁豆腐)

Aromtic, smooth and silky tofu pudding for 'yu' and me~ :P

Fans of almond milk shouldn't skip this particular hole-in-the-wall shop near Ximen Station in the capital city of Taiwan. Established in 2004, Yu's Almond Tofu has been whipping up a variety of dessert items loved by many.

Taro Rice Balls with Almond Tofu NT$75.00 (~S$3.35)
Taste: 8.5/10

I thoroughly enjoyed the tofu pudding that not only had a delightfully velvety texture, but also exuded a heady aroma of the nutritional nuts. On top of that, the almond milk from the vacuum sealed packet was nicely thick. The taro rice balls could be bouncier, but I wasn't complaining at all.

Tapioca with Almond Drink (Cold) NT$70.00 (~S$3.15)
Taste: 8/10

I had originally wanted to order something else from the menu, but I can't remember it now. As such, I ended up ordering the almond drink that somehow wasn't as rich as the one that came with the tofu pudding, but it was good nonetheless. The accompanying black pearls were a tad too soft for my liking.

Melon's Rating
Taste: 8/10
Ambience: 6/10
Overall: 7/10

Pika's advice: Have you ever had almond snow ice before? You may want to consider the House Special, priced at NT$250.00 (~S$11.20), which can probably feed three people.
