FIN: Finnair AY131 (Economy)

Row, row, row your potato boat again~

We've finally reached the last post of my overseas food adventure last June. While my BFF and I flew to Helsinki, Finland in the Business Class cabin of Finnair AY132, we flew back to Singapore in the Economy Class cabin with the same aircraft. Read further to find out about the supper and the light meal that we had onboard.

Two main course choices were offered for supper. As much as we'd like to try both of them, the chicken option had run out by the time the flight attendants served us.

AY Meal #1

Chopped Salad - Taste: 6/10

The appetiser was a rather boring chopped salad, featuring mostly cabbages and cucumbers topped with sunflower seeds. It was by no means stale, but I've tasted fresher vegetables onboard elsewhere.

Beef Lasagna Taste: 6.5/10

The outermost layer of the lasagna was rather dry, although the inner layers were acceptably moist. While it had an adequate amount of minced beef, I felt that it wasn't rich enough in terms of taste.

Rhubarb Semolina Pudding  Taste: 7/10

The dessert managed to cheer me up a little bit with an interesting mix of sweet and sour. The texture of the semolina pudding was alright, although I'd prefer something more velvety.

Bread

There was nothing special about the bun. It was a bit dry on the outside, but pretty soft inside.

Beverages

I had two cups of bilberry juice, as well as a cup of tea that was aromatic enough for my liking. I didn't go for any alcoholic or soft drinks at all throughout the flight.

Wake Up Juice

That was my last cup of bilberry juice for the month.

AY Meal #2

Potato Boat with Chicken Taste: 7/10

There was no choice given for the light meal. The potato boat topped with quark, a type of dairy product made by warming soured milk, was pretty similar to the one that I had in the Business Class cabin of Norra AY1141, though without much chicken.

Bread

The black and white sesame bun was fluffier than the one served for supper.

Others

Bilberry muffin? No, it was a cranberry muffin that was decent. Besides that, there was a familiar cup of bilberry yogurt on the tray, which was also served onboard Norra AY1141.

Beverages

I had just one cup of coffee that was quite strong and fragrant.

Melon's Rating
Taste: 6.5/10
Ambience: 7.5/10
Service: 7/10
Overall: 7/10

Pika's advice: Juice cartons are available at the galley, but not the highly popular bilberry ones. It shouldn't harm asking for a cup of the latter from one of the flight attendants. That's all for now, folks! Stay tuned for more overseas food reviews in the near future.
