JPN: Hotel Park (ホテルパーク) [Breakfast]
Hearty breakfast in a tranquil setting!
In Gifu, I stayed at Hotel Park somewhere along Nagara River. Its breakfast was a delightful way to start the day, offering a traditional Japanese set meal that reflected both balance and seasonality. Served in a peaceful dining area, it was a quiet indulgence that allowed me to appreciate the thoughtfulness behind each dish.
Colourful and tasty altogether!
Assorted Stuff #1
I started with the fresh salad bowl featuring crisp lettuce leaves, bell peppers, cherry tomatoes and ham slices. The poached egg with light soy sauce was silky and satisfying. I saved the plain yogurt with fruit cocktail for last.
Classic Japanese breakfast staples were served: grilled mackerel, miso soup, pickles and rice. Additionally, there was a bowl of simmered vegetables that highlighted their natural sweetness. There were also side dishes in small portions, such as omelette roll, whitebait and pollock roe, creating a well-rounded meal.
Fish Paste
A dollop of paste, which I suspected was made of fish, was served atop a dried leaf serving as a natural canvas. Topped with chopped spring onions, it leaned more towards sweetness than a savoury taste profile, which went well with rice.
