NLD: Pancakes Amsterdam
Sweet or savoury Dutch pancakes for you?
Pancakes Amsterdam serves not only traditional Dutch pancakes with a little twist, but also American pancakes for those who prefer something thicker. Founded in 2007, the brand has grown into four branches in the capital city. My BFF and I visited the branch at Amsterdam Centraal.
We didn't order any American pancakes.

Apple and Almond Dutch Pancake €11.00 (~S$17.40)
Taste: 8.5/10
I noticed that the pancake was just slightly thicker than a crêpe. To my delight, the sweet pancake topped with apple slices, almonds and Calvados, a type of apple brandy from the Normandy region in France, was truly appetising. I was glad that the whipped cream came in a separate bowl.

Chicken, Zucchini and Tomato Dutch Pancake €13.50 (~S$21.35)
Taste: 8/10
From the selection of savoury Dutch pancakes, we went for the one topped with smoked chicken, sliced zucchinis and cherry tomatoes. It came with a small saucer of tapenade made of chopped roasted tomatoes, olives and garlic. The sweet and savoury balance was certainly there.

Moccachino €3.40 (~S$5.40)
Taste: 7.5/10
I found the moccachino to be pretty fragrant. It was also thick enough for my liking, but I'd love it to have a smaller amount of sugar. A small packet of stroopwafel (Dutch thin waffle filled with caramel syrup) was given as an accompaniment to the cup of coffee.

Walden Lemon and Lemongrass Iced Tea €4.50 (~S$7.10)
My BFF tried a small bottle of organic iced tea infused with lemon and lemongrass by Walden. I recall it was quite fragrant, but very mildly sweet.

Upon settling your bill, you'll receive a complimentary keychain. Pika's advice: Do note that the eatery only accepts card payment.

There was a queue when we reached the eatery close to 11.00am that Sunday for brunch, but it was moving pretty fast.
