PHI: Best Western Hotel La Corona [Breakfast]
First time having kung pao vegetables!
Situated in the Ermita district of Manila, Best Western Hotel La Corona (3*) is within walking distance to (at least) two places of attractions: Rizal Park and Manila Ocean Park, both of which I covered in one day.
Best Western is the world's largest hotel chain with more than 4,000 hotels worldwide. Pika's advice: This isn't an advice regarding food, but do sign up for the free Best Western Rewards membership which will allow you to accumulate points and redeem them for free room nights, etc.!
Assorted Stuff #1
The croissant and danish were buttery, but not really crispy. The mini chocolate muffin wasn't very chocolatey, and it was a bit sticky on the teeth. Three variaties of corn flakes were provided; I guess you should know their brands by looking at the picture.
Assorted Stuff #2
The fried rice had a bit of flavour, and it went well with the kung pao vegetables with dried chilis, as well as the pork slices which were first battered and deep-fried before being drenched in sweet, brownish sauce. The scrambled eggs, although not that flavourful, were enjoyably creamy, but the bacon was dry and not crispy (if it were dry and crispy, it'd be great).
Fruits & Yogurt
The watermelons and papayas were pretty fresh, but not that sweet. I was glad that they provided yogurt that'd definitely help improve digestion.
Coffee
The coffee wasn't overly strong, thus not too bitter.
Orange & Pineapple Cordial Drink
In my opinion, both of them were a tad too sweet.
Melon's Rating
Taste: 7/10
Ambience: 7.5/10
Overall: 7/10
The hotel boasts award-winning friendly service, and I think they really deserve the title. Polite and amiable, the staff I interacted with were well-groomed.
