MAS: Midcity Hotel Melaka [Breakfast]
Tasty spring rolls and chicken briyani!
Situated within the historical area of Melaka, Malaysia, Midcity Hotel Melaka (3.5*) is within easy walking distance to Dataran Pahlawan, the largest shopping complex in the region. Besides providing buffet breakfast, the hotel also houses a bar which is promised to offer a panoramic view of the city.
While the buffet spread wasn't that huge, it offered a harmonious balance of various cuisines to cater to different tongues.
Assorted Stuff
The most notable item in the dish was the fried spring roll for its simple, yet tasty offering. Also delectable was the chicken biryani (Indian spicy rice dish) with its adequately spicy gravy. The lontong (lit. rice cake) with kuah lemak (lit. fatty gravy) was somewhat tasteless, while the scrambled eggs were a bit too runny.
Porridge
The porridge was just slightly too watery for my liking, but I enjoyed the crispy anchovies with their adequate saltiness. Other toppings were pickled vegetables, peanuts and fried shallots.
Bread & Cakes
On top of the lightly toasted bread were all the available types of spread: margarine, kaya and strawberry jam. The banana cake was moist and aromatic, while the chocolate cake was surprisingly firm, sweet and full of that aphrodisiac.
Fruits & Jelly
The orange and watermelon slices were adequately sweet and juicy. While the rose jelly was pretty ordinary, the kiwi jelly was highly enjoyable.
Tea & Orange Cordial Drink
The tea was pretty robust, while the orange cordial drink was average.

Overall, I was pleased with the buffet breakfast. I actually went to get a lot of spring rolls and chicken biryani after the first dish. Haha...
