VIE: Jasmine Garden Hotel [Breakfast] {REBRANDED}
Semi-buffet breakfast with friendly staff!
UPDATE (12/04/2017): The hotel has been rebranded to Ritz Boutique Hotel and has since moved to 23 Au Trieu, Hoan Kiem.
Jasmine Garden Hotel (3*) is strategically situated within a short walking distance from Hoan Kiem Lake. "The friendliest hotel in Hanoi" can be seen as the tagline in the hotel website. I'm not too sure if that's really true, but I truly appreciated the hospitality that wasn't at all clinical, unlike that in some hotels done for the sake of formality. The breakfast is semi-buffet style, where main course has to be ordered from one of the staff.

Vietnamese Noodle Soup (Beef)
Taste: 8/10
I haven't tried any of the instant noodle packets I bought from the country, but I was pretty sure that the bowl of warm noodle soup with beef was factory made. Don't get me wrong; it was enjoyable, especially given the fact that the slices of beef were clean and pretty tender. Pika's advice: You can opt for chicken instead of beef!
French Breakfast
Taste: 7/10
Apart from the Vietnamese baguette which was really crispy outside and delightfully soft inside, we were served two sausages, a few slices of ham and hard-boiled eggs which yolks were still pretty moist. The meat items weren't too salty for sure.
Omelette with Mushrooms and Bread
Taste: 7.5/10
While the omelette wasn't as fluffy as what I'd prefer it to be, it came with an adequate amount of chopped mushrooms. It also came with the same Vietnamese baguette as mentioned above, together with a small cube of unsalted butter.
Sandwich with Salad, Ham and Cheese
Taste: 7/10
Another Western style main course would be the simple sandwich which came with an array of colours from iceberg lettuce, ham slices, tomatoes, cheese and mayonnaise. Even though there wasn't anything to rave about, the balance of flavours was there.
Muffin & Yogurt
The small buffet line had a few vanilla muffins that could be fluffier, as well as nice yogurt of adequate thickness. I actually took another cup of the latter.
Fruits
While the variety wasn't bad at all, I have to admit that the pineapple, green apple and pear slices were somewhat dry. The watermelon and dragon fruit slices were alright, while the Mandarin orange was pretty sweet.
Milk Coffee & Passion Fruit Cordial Drink
I tried to add some milk, which had an interesting taste I can't exactly describe, into my cup of coffee. With a little bit of sugar, it was the usual coffee with a unique flavour. The passion fruit cordial drink was mildly sweet without being
Melon's Rating
Taste: 7/10
Ambience: 6.5/10
Service: 8.5/10
Overall: 7.5/10
The quality of the buffet items can definitely be improved to complement the warm service. If I were to consider the service rendered by the hotel in totality, I'd definitely give a score of 9/10 or even more than that.
