SIN: Istanblue

Image
Authentic 'kunefe' that reminded me of the good times in Istanbul! I wonder if the name of the restaurant is a hybrid between Istanbul in Turkey and the renowned Blue Mosque in that city? Anyway, true to its name, the restaurant features a bluish interior.

SIN: Latulle Café {CLOSED}

Image
2-in-1 fashion shop and café! UPDATE (26/07/2020):  The café has closed down. Hailing from Paris, France, Latulle is a marriage between a fashion store and a full-service café conceptualised by a Korean-born designer Katia Cho. After accompanying a friend of mine to shop for clothes, we decided to have the Executive Set each. At the point of writing, it's priced at S$22.00 .

SIN: Padi @ Bussorah

Image
A restaurant that serves up to 600 'nasi ambeng' platters every month! The traditional Javanese dish called nasi ambeng , a celebratory dish featuring a heap of rice with various side dishes served on a huge platter, was popular from the 1960s to the 1980s. Padi @ Bussorah is one of the restaurants around that plays its part in preserving the dish.

SIN: Keria Japanese Restaurant

Image
Have you tried 'battera' before? Keria Japanese Restaurant is the best  izakaya  (a type of Japanese establishment serving alcohols and food to go along with) I've ever been in Singapore. For those who enjoy going for Japanese karaoke at Cuppage Plaza like me, you may want to drop by for a drink or a meal to complete the experience.

SIN: Omnivore

Image
Filling salad set with quality meat! As many are getting more conscious about healthy eating these days, there are lots of salad places cropping up out there. One of my most favourite stalls is Omnivore at Chevron House, which offers value-for-money  Small Set with a base price of S$9.90  that includes one protein, one carbohydrate or vegetable, three toppings and one dressing.

SIN: Soup Restaurant

Image
Savouring the once-a-luxurious-dish of Samsui ginger chicken~ The history of Soup Restaurant goes back to 1991 when the founders observed the increasing popularity of herbal soup varieties in HK, thereby establishing the first outlet at Smith Street in the Chinatown area. The well-loved Samsui Ginger Chicken was only introduced three years later, and it has since become one of the restaurant's signature dishes.

SIN: Smokey's BBQ {MOVED}

Image
Amazing beef brisket marinated for more than 20 hours! UPDATE (18/07/2018):  The restaurant has moved to 73 Joo Chiat Place. The moment I stumbled upon Smokey's BBQ on the Internet, my mind immediately thought of the smoked meat I had at Smokey Bear during my trip to Cameron Highlands in Malaysia. Given some of the positive reviews I read online, I decided to bring my BFF to Joo Chiat to put the restaurant into the acid test.

SIN: Portico Host {CLOSED}

Image
A taste of Pulau Ubin sea bass at Alexandra Road! UPDATE (25/07/2020):  The restaurant has closed down. Formerly known as Hosted on the Patio, Portico Host is a casual dining restaurant with its own edible garden. It works in partnership with Plant Visionz and Tiberias Harvest fishery for fresh ingredients to be used in its predominantly modern European-inspired dishes.

SIN: Grand Hyatt Singapore [Breakfast] - 1st

Image
A huge, yummy spread of local and international delights! Grand Hyatt Singapore (5*) showcases a number of dining destinations and bars in the heart of Orchard Road. I recently took the chance to have a staycation there, so let's look into the spread of the breakfast buffet at Straits Kitchen that's Halal -certified.

SIN: Dazzling Café {CLOSED}

Image
"Eat differently - add a little dazzle to your meals" UPDATE (24/11/2019):  The café has closed down. Having established its presence in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Taiwan, Dazzling Café continues to bedazzle its patrons by its honey toast creations, along with other interesting items. My BFF and I didn't order the honey toast though, going for a waffle instead for dessert.
