SIN: The Oatberry Café

Serving allergy-free granola products since 2015!

The Oatberry Café is known as a plant-based, allergy-friendly granola specialty café, but it also serves delectable all-day breakfast items. I first chanced upon it near Telok Blangah MRT station while looking for a brunch spot after a hike at Mount Faber Park. However, it has since moved to Scotts Square along the bustling Orchard Road.

Honeydew certainly loved the assortment of colours before her eyes.

Vegan Superfood Breakfast S$24.00 (Set Menu)
Taste: 8.5/10

The main attraction of the dish was the toast topped with creamy avocado mash, vine tomatoes, sesame seeds and balsamic vinegar. Accompanying the toast were salad greens, sautéed button mushrooms and canned baked beans in tomato sauce. Wait, that's not all! I also got to choose a medium-sized acai bowl. I ended up picking Tropicana shown below.

Tropicana Acai Bowl (Set Menu)
Taste: 8.5/10

The menu says Tropicana is "a perfect complement to island living", although I wish I'm living in a country with four seasons. Anyway, it was bowl of happiness chock full of granola, organic acai, coconut chia pudding and assorted tropical fruits: banana, mango, passionfruit and dragonfruit. For the drizzle, I went for pure honey. Pika's advice: If Tropicana doesn't sound so appealing, you may want to opt for either Berrylicious that features strawberries and blueberries or Powernutter that includes an assortment of nuts: almond, pumpkin seed and sunflower seed and wolfberry.

American Breakfast S$19.00
Taste: 7.5/10

I also had the opportunity to try the oat waffle free from a lot of things: egg, soy, nut, dairy and gluten. Being adequately crunchy and fluffy at the same time, it was topped with vegan butter, organic maple syrup and strawberry slices. Included in the platter were salad greens, baked beans, plant-based nuggets, hash brown, and scrambled eggs that I thought could be creamier.

Mocha S$7.90
Taste: 8/10

What's a brunch without a cup of coffee? Topped with cocoa powder, the mildly sweet mocha was satisfying enough as it was pretty strong and aromatic. For the milk, I went for oat instead of dairy or soy.

Ambience: 7/10
Overall: 7.5/10

Their granola is available in takeaway packs of 80 g or 250 g. Of course, everything used to be cheaper before they moved to Orchard.
