FRA: McCafé [Macarons]

Cheap macarons indeed...

Getting bored while waiting for our turn to get into the Catacombes-de-Paris (Catacombs of Paris), two of my friends decided to get out of the queue for a while to get us some macarons from the McCafé nearby. Actually, we'd already been thinking about trying them much earlier haha...

Can you guess all the flavours of the macarons inside? :P Anyway, do you know that the name of the jam-filled confectionery - made of egg whites, icing and granulated sugar, almond powder - is actually derived from an Italian word maccarone or maccherone (lit. to crush or beat)?

Six Macarons €4.50 (~S$7.90)
Lemon - Taste: 5/10
Pistachio Taste: 4/10
Caramel Taste: 6/10
Vanilla Taste: 7/10
Chocolate Taste: 6.5/10
Strawberry Taste: 7.5/10

The good ones were the strawberry macaron which wasn't excessively sweet, and the vanilla macaron which had quite a nice aroma. The chocolate macaron was so-so, while the filling in the caramel macaron somehow tasted like kaya jam. Sadly, the lemon macaron was way too sweet, and the pistachio one tasted a bit weird. It didn't taste anywhere near pistachio at all.

Melon's Rating
Taste: 6/10

Well, what can you expect from cheap macarons haha... Pika's advice: Just a general advice on macarons; it's kinda personal, but based on my experiences so far, it seems that strawberry macarons are generally pretty delectable. So yup, you can't really go wrong with strawberry macarons; that is, if you like strawberry, of course... :P
