HKG: Milano Fresh @ HKUST [Tea Time] {CLOSED}

Visually appealing tea time set for two!

UPDATE (08/06/2020): The vendor no longer operates at the canteen.

Having been under the British colony for approximately 155 years (my history isn't failing me, I hope), HK has developed into a city-state where tea time is part and parcel of daily life. Tea time has always been an important moment at home everyday (mom being the most faithful advocate). It's only in Singapore where I usually don't even have the time, or the luxury, to have something in between lunch and dinner.

High Tea Set HK$43.00 (~S$7.15)

Although there were a few options available during tea time, I only tried the most interesting one. It was the only high tea set meant to be shared with another person. Pika's advice: For the drinks, each person can choose a cup of either coffee or soft drink.

Upper Platter (Set Menu)
Tandoori Chicken - Taste: 7.5/10
Bacon-Wrapped Sausage - Taste: 7/10

The tandoori chicken came as a surprise, being pretty aromatic due to the seasoning of garam masala, garlic and cayenne pepper, among others. It was quite tender as well, although it wasn't really spicy. The bacon-wrapped sausage featured the ubiquitous black pepper chicken sausage wrapped with pork bacon which was pretty crispy.

Lower Platter (Set Menu)
Tuna Bruschetta - Taste: 7/10
Chicken Wrap - Taste: 8.5/10
Fruit Pie - Taste: 8/10

The bread for the bruschetta wasn't toasted, but it was crispy enough. The tuna was creamy enough, although the lettuce on which it was sitting wasn't that fresh. The best item in the set was the chicken wrap which had tender chicken breast, lettuce and highly savoury parmesan cheese encased with chewy tortilla. The buttery fruit pie was a nice dessert to end the meal with milky cream and sweet kiwi, orange and dragon fruit slices sitting on top of it.

Beverages (Set Menu)
Mövenpick Coffee - Taste: 8/10

I love frothy coffee, and the one served by Milano Fresh was up to my standard. It was pretty thick and bitter. I don't have to talk about my friend's Coke, right?

Melon's Rating
Taste: 7.5/10
Ambience: 7.5/10
Overall: 7.5/10

I'm not sure about the exact timing, but I believe the tea time menu is available from 3.00pm onwards until before 6.00pm.
