FIN: Finnair Lounge @ Vantaa Airport (Schengen Area)

Ever tried Karelian pasty, the national dish of Finland?

Here's the very first post on Finland! After wandering about the Schengen area of Vantaa Airport, my BFF and I went to Finnair Lounge that's situated near Gate 22 while waiting for our next flight to Warsaw, Poland. Breakfast is served daily at the lounge from 6.00am to 10.30am.

I purposely took one plate to contain savoury stuff and another for sweet items.

Assorted Stuff #1

That was my virgin experience with Karelian pasty, a Finnish specialty filled with rice, which was a tad savoury and milky. The egg cooked with smoked salmon and spinach quiche were quite tasty. As for the ham sandwich, the rye bread was too hard for my liking.

Assorted Stuff #2

To aid digestion, I had a bowl of plain yogurt with such thick berry coulis. The chocolate cake was quite rich, but it wasn't that moist. I also took a lemon wafer biscuit and a muesli bar.

Strawberry Smoothie & Cappuccino

Freshly made in-house, the strawberry smoothie wasn't sweetened with sugar. As for the cappuccino that came from a coffee machine, it was rather thin.

Taste: 7.5/10

Ambience: 7/10

Overall: 7/10

The lounge was pretty crowded during my first hour there, but it got quieter after that. Pika's advice: Expect a salad bar and hot meals after 10.30am. However, do take note that the kitchen is undergoing renovation from 2 July to 31 August 2018, so there may be limited options available.
