SIN: Harry's
Surprisingly delicious curried lamb shank!
Harry's started as an intimate jazz bar in Boat Quay back in August 1992. Over the years, it has transformed into a neighbourhood bar. It prides itself in being Singapore's largest chain of bars with 20 branches, along with a few others in Myanmar and India at the point of writing.
Harry's won the Outstanding Brands Award in the Bar and Dining Category in 2016.

Laksa Popcorn Chicken S$10.00
Taste: 7/10
A recommended beer snack item, the deep-fried chicken bits were adequately seasoned and not too oily. The laksa (Peranakan dish of noodle in rich coconut gravy) mayonnaise, however, did little to enhance the crispy popcorn chicken. Pika's advice: You can choose any two beer snack items for S$17.00.
Prawn and Seaweed Aglio Olio S$25.00
Taste: 5/10
The Japanese-inspired pasta dish took so long to arrive at the table. Futhermore, it didn't live up to my expectations. Even though the prawns were rather springy, the spaghetti topped with red chili slices and sesame seeds wasn't that al dente. Overall, the dish wasn't that moist and there wasn't enough garlic.
Curried Lamb Shank S$29.00
Taste: 9/10
The other main course was significantly better and thus truly enjoyable. The huge lamb shank, which didn't have any gamey smell, was cooked so well that the meat was fork-tender. The dry curry was pretty rich without being overly spicy, going well with the flavoured rice. The vegetables could be fresher though.
Minty Pina S$12.00
Taste: 7/10
I wanted to order dessert, but both options were unavailable. Not wanting to have something alcoholic, I decided to try one of the mocktails. The concoction of lemonade, ginger beer, pineapple juice and mint leaves was adequately refreshing, but not special. In fact, it could use an increased proportion of ginger beer.
