ETH: Ethiopian Airlines ET909 (Economy)

The most inedible food I've ever had onboard... =X

After abour 2.5 hours of transit at the tired-looking Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, my BFF and I continued our journey to Bamako, Mali with Ethiopian Airlines. It was a flight that I don't really want to remember, especially the meal service.

My BFF had a cup of tomato juice. Do you like tomato juice?

ET Snack

The snack was essentially the best thing that I had onboard. To accompany the mildly salty taralli (Italian toroidal cracker), I had a cup of Coke Zero without ice.

ET Meal

Pasta Salad Taste: 1/10

The corkscrew-shaped pasta was overcooked to the point of melting in the mouth in a bad way. Mixed with a bit of finely chopped tomatoes and green peppers, the appetiser dish was a disaster. In fact, it tasted slightly sour.

Corned Beef with Rice Taste: 2/10

I like corned beef, but certainly not what was served onboard that afternoon. Besides not really tasting like ordinary corned beef, it was way too salty. As for the rice mixed with some carrot and cucumber cubes, the whole thing was pretty much dry.

White Sauce Chicken with Rice Taste: 4/10

The chicken main course was an inch better. Still, there was nothing to rave about as the chicken chunks were rather dry and there wasn't enough of the white sauce, which turned out to be leaning towards tasteless.

Strawberry Mousse Taste: 1/10

Another dish that I stopped eating after less than a spoonful was the brightly-coloured dessert that wasn't only artifically flavoured, but also had a bitter aftertaste. The saving grace was the few dark chocolate shavings.

Bread

The bread wasn't fluffy, but not that tough either.

Others

Some crackers and cheese helped to pacify my stomach.

Beverages

On top of the usual selections of fruit juice and soft drinks, a few choices of alcoholic drinks were available. I opted for orange juice, followed by hot coffee.

Melon's Rating
Taste: 2.5/10
Ambience: 5/10
Service: 6/10
Overall: 5/10

I really wonder how the Business Class meal was. Pika's advice: Perhaps it'd be wise to carry some snacks with you.
