SIN: Sin Kee Famous Cantonese Chicken Rice [Delivery]

Chicken rice recipe passed down from one generation to another~

Have you heard of Sin Kee? After the owner of the original stall passed away, the sons sold their late father's chicken rice recipe for a whooping S$42,800.00 a while ago. Long story cut short, after moving from one place to another and a period of latency, one of the sons reopened the stall at Holland Drive.

Set A (2 Pax) S$16.80

I ordered a set meal comprising poached chicken, vegetables, lava eggs and two portions of rice for my mother and me.

Poached Chicken (Set Menu)
Taste: 8/10

I must say that the poached chicken was better than many others I've tried elsewhere. While the skin could be more gelatinous, the white meat was tender and naturally sweet. The accompanying chili sauce was spicy enough for my liking, while the ginger dip further enhanced the enjoyment of the chicken. The rice was only mildly fragrant though. Pika's advice: For those who love innards, I've heard that Sin Kee execute them well.

Lava Egg (Set Menu)
Taste: 8.5/10

The lava eggs were nicely done. Having a glossy brown exterior, they were flavourful. The consistency of the runny egg yolks were right.

Boiled Vegetable with Oyster Sauce (Set Menu)
Taste: 8/10

You can't go wrong with Chiinese cabbage cooked with oyster sauce, can you? The vegetable was fresh and the oyster sauce wasn't overwhelming.

Melon's Rating
Taste: 8/10

They used to run one eatery at Havelock Road closer to home, but sadly it's no longer there. Nevertheless, Holland Village isn't far from my workplace.
