IDN: Ibis Budget Jakarta Airport [Breakfast]
Where you can have breakfast as early as 3.00am!
Once again, I was back in Jakarta, Indonesia. My BFFs and I had a quick stay at Ibis budget Jakarta Airport (3*), which is about 10 minutes away from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport by car. The highly affordable rate includes breakfast, though the buffet spread is probably nothing to rave about.

Assorted Stuff
On the plate were two sources of carbohydrates: plain white rice and a kind of pasta that seemed to be cooked like a local dish of fried noodle, but it barely had any specific flavours. Accompanying them were undercooked chye sim (Chinese mustard green), dehydrated stir-fried tempe (lit. fermented soya bean cake) and beancurd with chili and a vegetable fritter that thankfully wasn't too oily. The homemade chili sauce and green chilis, on the other hand, were pretty good.
Porridge
The best breakfast item was the thick porridge, to which I ladled a bit of chicken broth flavoured with turmeric. I also added some toppings, such as shredded chicken, you tiao (Chinese cruller), wanton skins, peanuts and a bit of green chili that certainly added a kick.
Dessert & Papaya
For something sweet, I had a local delicacy known as bubur pacar cina (lit. Chinese girlfriend porridge). If not for the fact that the tapioca bits in coconut milk were too sticky, the sweet porridge actually tasted quite nice due to the sweet and salty balance. The coconut pudding had the right degree of sweetness, but not the papaya cubes that were somewhat lacking in natural sugar.
Coffee & Water
The black coffee served at the hotel wasn't shabby as it was quite aromatic. If you're wondering what was inside the glass, it was cold water. Pika's advice: Orange and apple juice can be found on the buffet line, but take note that you may potentially be drinking stuff that has been left overnight. I saw some left in the respective containers when I took a look at the dining area at night.
