SIN: I'm Kim Korean BBQ
Affordable Korean BBQ buffet with a good spread!
....
Located at School of the Arts near Dhoby Ghaut, Bencoolen and Bras Basah MRT stations, I'm Kim Korean BBQ has been a popular go-to spot for affordable Korean BBQ buffet since its establishment in 2014. Don't forget to grab at least one friend as the restaurant requires a minimum of two paying diners.
Buffet Lunch (Adult) S$18.90
Taste: 8/10
The dining time is limited to 90 minutes for groups of two and three, and 120 minutes for groups of four or more.
Assorted Stuff #1
For lunch, there are spicy chicken, black pepper chicken, layered pork belly, marinated pork belly, spicy pork belly and marinated beef for you to grill. For the vegetables, I had enoki mushrooms, eggplants, young corns, onion, lettuce leaves, pickled radish and cabbage kimchi (Korean salted and fermented vegetables).
I enjoyed the beef and non-marinated pork belly the most, wrapping them with garlic, green chili and ssamjang (Korean spicy dipping sauce) in fresh, crip using lettuce leaves.
Assorted Stuff #2
From the salad corner, I helped myself to garden salad with Thousand Island dressing, potato salad and coleslaw. I also had some crunchy kelp and lightly salted edamame (Japanese young soybeans).
Assorted Stuff #3
I was delighted japchae (Korean stir-fried sweet potato starch noodle), one of my favourite dishes that was executed well. While I'm never a fan of tteokbokki (Korean spicy rice cake), I thought it was only mildly spicy. The kimchi pancakes were nothing to rave about.
Ginseng Chicken Soup & Kimchi Jjigae
While there wasn't much chicken in it, I enjoyed the light and comforting ginseng chicken soup, perfect for washing down all the grilled meat. I also tried the kimchi soup, which didn't ack quite as much punch as expected.
Watermelon & Watermelon Sago
It was a pleasant way to end the meal with not only fresh and juicy watermelon cubes, but also dessert soup featuring watermelon and sago, which wasn't too sweet.
Melon's Rating
Taste: 8/10
Ambience: 6.5/10
Overall: 7/10
Come to think of it, it’s been a while since I last wrote a post on non-buffet breakfast. At this age, I have to admit I’m not quite as excited about buffet lunch or dinner anymore. Pika's advice: Buffet dinner is at least S$10.00 more expensive, but you can expect more items such as pork collar, beef short ribs, chicken wings and collagen soup.
