On the 17th (of September), I went to the Waseda Shibuya Senior High School. As part of the continuous assessment for the NUS module LAJ2203 (Japanese 4), we were expected to join the school's yearly festival called 星蘭祭 (seiransai) and write a thank you letter to the school. Anyway, the students converted one of the classrooms into a café during the festival. I got to try one of the cakes they baked.
Matcha Steamed Cake S$1.50
(Inclusive of a drink)
Taste: 7.5/10
The green tea cake, which had a similar texture to the ubiquitous marble cake, was pretty good, but it would be better if it were slightly sweeter in my opinion. For the drink, I chose the Japanese barley tea, 麦茶 (mugicha) which was refreshing with its slight bitter undertone. Pika's advice: Should the café be around in the coming years, come early and try the apple pie! Last week many people said that it was really good! Too bad it was sold out by the time I came there.
Melon's Rating
Taste: 7.5/10
Ambience: 7/10
Overall: 7/10
I'll come again next year! :P Oh yes, I'll just write down the website of the school at the end of the entry.
