So-so beef noodles, but good chicken chop noodles!

The Paradise Group, which manages restaurants such as Paradise Dynasty, has recently come up with a casual, no-frills eatery that focuses mainly on Taiwanese beef noodles. At the point of writing, you can find Le Nu at VivoCity and Bugis Junction, the former being the place that I'm going to write a review on.

Just like in some noodle eateries in Taiwan, you can choose appetiser dishes near the entrance. The noodles come in bowls imprinted with Mao Zedong's poems.

Chilled Silken Tofu with Century Egg S$2.60
Taste: 8/10

For appetiser, I chose the cold silken tofu which was velvety enough to whet my appetite. I enjoyed the sauce which was pretty light in texture, but having a nice aroma of sesame oil. The century egg could be more piquant though.

Braised Fresh Beef Noodles S$8.90
Taste: 7/10

Choosing the not-so-stringy thin noodles and pickled cabbages to go with the bowl, I found that the broth was passable. It was neither aromatic nor beefy enough. Having said that, I suppose the beauty lay in the fresh beef slices with just enough fatty layers. The beef dipping sauce (not shown) had a heady fragrance of fermented yellow soybean, but it was a tad too salty for my liking.

Noodles with Chicken Chop in Tomato Soup S$7.90
Taste: 8.5/10

Truth be told, the non-beef variant was more delectable. The thick noodles were enjoyably chewier than their thin counterparts, bathing in tomato soup which was pretty rich and not watery, though it could be a little bit sweeter to be perfect. The fried chicken was really crunchy and juicy.

Melon's Rating
Taste: 7.5/10
Ambience: 6/10
Overall: 6.5/10

I doubt I'll be back for the beef noodles, but the noodles in tomato soup kinda rock my socks off. Pika's advice: Rice noodles lovers, be glad to know that the eatery serves your favourite variant!

Oh, really! I'm not sure, but I really found the beef broth to be somewhat uninspiring, or perhaps I was just unlucky that day... :P
