SIN: Pizza Fabbrica

Have you heard of 'nduja' before?

Tucked in the bustling Bussorah Street, Pizza Fabbrica stands itself apart from many restaurants serving mainly Middle Eastern cuisine by whipping up Italian dishes in its cool, minimalist space. From what I've gathered, the restaurant has been around since end 2014.

It used to offer pumpkin cream-based pizzas, but not anymore. How I wish I could try that out!

Bread

I was given two pieces of bread to begin with, which was warm and fluffy.

Gamberi e Cappesante alle Erbe S$18.00
Taste: 8.5/10

The busy appetiser dish of pan-seared prawns and scallops seems to be a hit among many diners as I saw them delivered to many tables. With an adequate amount of olive oil and garlic, the fresh and sweet seafood items that were tossed olives, bell peppers, sun-dried tomatoes and rocket leaves really whetted my appetite.

Pappardelle al Nero S$28.00
Taste: 8/10

Did you know that the name of the broad, flat pasta come from the verb pappare (lit. gobble up)? It was less than a minute away from being truly al dente, but I didn't mind the firmer texture. The mild tang of the sea that came from the squid ink pasta married the sweetness of the crab meat sauce coloured with saffron well.

Pizza Nduja e Caciocavallo S$28.00
Taste: 8/10

I chose the first one from the list of the gourmet pizza selections. In front of me was a fluffy pizza topped with tomato sauce, spicy pork spread, caciocavallo and mozarella cheese. It was flavoursome, but a bit more sugar would balance its flavours further. There were also small pieces of red bell peppers, but only very few of them.

Panna Cotta allo Zafferano S$12.00
Taste: 9/10

Jiggly panna cotta (lit. cooked cream), anyone? That was such a decadent dessert dish to end the dinner. Rich without leaving any cloying aftertaste on the palate, the adequately sweet Italian custard was accompanied by red elderberry coulis that was ambrosial.

Melon's Rating
Taste: 8.5/10
Ambience: 7/10
Service: 7/10
Overall: 7.5/10

As the restaurant was fully booked, my dining companion and I had to sit outside, but we didn't mind that. Pika's advice: I don't think I've come across many restaurants serving pizza with burrata cheese in Singapore. Pizza Fabbrica is one of them, selling the meat-free Pizza Burrata e Pomodorini at S$32.00.
