SIN: Cajun on Wheels [Takeaway]
Tasty sea bass grilled with lots of 'kecap manis'!
We've now transitioned to the second half of 2020, and we continue to hope that the COVID-19 pandemic would be over soon. During the Circuit Breaker period here in Singapore, our term for partial lockdown that lasted from 7 April to 1 June, there was no way we could dine outside. On one of the days, I had a yummy dinner at home from Cajun on Wheels.
For each individual platter, you get to choose a carbohydrate, a side and a drink.
Mixed Seafood Platter S$16.00
Taste: 7.5/10
I enjoyed the fish, prawns and mussels smothered in my choice of sauce - Cajun cheese - that was pretty rich and creamy with a hint of spiciness. For the carbohydrate, the aglio olio spaghetti wasn't too shabby. I was, however, pretty disappointed with the fries that were somewhat soggy. Though nothing to rave about, the sunny-side up egg was welcomed. Pika's advice: If you're a fan of chili crab, you may want to try its relatively new chili crab sauce.
Grilled Sea Bass Platter S$18.00
Taste: 8.5/10
The sizeable sea bass, which was adequately moist, was slathered with finger-licking good kecap manis (Indonesian sweet soy sauce). It was accompanied by a sunny-side up egg, as well as a side of shallots mixed with bird's eye chili by default that was enjoyably fiery. They yellow-coloured rice pilaf was cooked well, while the purple coleslaw that came with green raisins were fresh and crunchy enough.
Drinks
You can choose from a selection of soft drinks and hot beverages. I got a cup of Coca-Cola and another of instant teh tarik (lit. pulled tea).

Taste: 8/10
When I posted the photos on Instagram, a friend of mine commented, "The platters felt like they travelled the world before landing on your dining table!"
