SIN: Wild Honey

Award-winning beef pastrami in 2018!

I love restaurants that offer all-day breakfast menu. I've been to Wild Honey at Mandarin Gallery a few times, but only once at Scotts Square, the latter of which is the focus of today's blog post. Wild Honey was named the winner in two categories - Best Breakfast and Best Weekend Brunch - in the 2021 edition of Expat Living Readers' Choice Awards.

At the point of writing, there are three branches across Singapore, the latest addition being the one along Beach Road.

Tunisian S$24.00
Taste: 8/10

I love shakshouka, which is a Middle Eastern breakfast dish of eggs smothered in sauce featuring tomatoes, red peppers and onions as the main ingredients. Topped with herbs, the dish was executed well by Wild Honey. It came with a piece of lightly grilled flatbread and a side of tabbouleh (Levantine chopped herb salad seasoned with olive oil and lemon juice).

Spanish S$25.00
Taste: 6/10

Do you love corned beef? I very much do. I like the idea of having diced potatoes, corned beef and chorizo (Spanish pork sausage) seasoned with herbs and pepper, but unfortunately, the restaurant's rendition that evening was rather salty. Nevertheless, the poached egg topped with creamy Hollandaise sauce was good. Equally enjoyable was the homemade brioche.

Delancey S$28.00
Taste: 8.5/10

Voted as the best pastrami by Cuisine & Wine Asia magazine in 2018, Delancey is one main course that you should consider trying. Besides the delicious sliced pastrami made of beef brisket, there were tomatoes and a poached egg topped with Hollandaise sauce mixed with whole grain mustard. All of them were sitting on black and white sesame bagels.

Turmeric Latte S$9.50
Taste: 7.5/10

If you'd like to have a relatively healthy drink that tastes decent, opt for the turmeric latte. A concoction of coffee, almond milk, organic turmeric and coconut oil, it did have a mild aroma of the yellow-coloured spice. The mild sweetness came from coconut sugar, and at the same time, there was a bit of a kick from black pepper. Pika's advice: If you're not a coffee drinker, you can still get this drink sans coffee.

Banoffee Brûlée S$12.00
Taste: 8/10

For something sweeter and more indulgent, especially those who don't worry about their waist size, how about banoffee in liquid form? I enjoyed the aromatic concoction of milk, caramel, banana and honey. It was topped with flamed meringue that gave a nice hint of smokiness to the beverage.

Melon's Rating
Taste: 7.5/10
Ambience: 7.5/10
Service: 7.5/10
Overall: 7.5/10

Take note that the different branches have slightly different menus.
