CAN: Radisson Blu Toronto Downtown [Breakfast]
How does French toast coated with cornflakes sound?
During my inaugural visit to Toronto, Canada, I had the opportunity to explore the area for a few days. Radisson Blu Toronto Downtown (4*) provided a pleasant stay. For the first morning, my BFF and I decided to try the breakfast items at The View Restaurant and Bar within the hotel premises.
Crunchy French Toast C$16.00 (~S$15.80)
Taste: 7.5/10
It was my virgin experience with such a rendition of French toast. Each of the bread slices was carefully dipped in an egg mixture before being coated with crunchy cornflakes, creating a pretty delightful textural contrast. They were served with maple syrup, whipped butter, whipped cream and strawberry slices.
Eggs Benedict C$20.00 (~S$19.75)
Taste: 7/10
For something savoury, we went for the classic breakfast featuring poached eggs sitting atop toasted English muffins. They were crowned with Hollandaise sauce that was rich enough, but it could be more velvety. They came with peameal bacon, a quintessential Ontario delight, as well as a small serving of salad.
Freshly Brewed Coffee C$5.00 (~S$4.95)
Taste: 7/10
How many of you'd agree that nothing beats coffee in the morning? The aroma of the freshly brewed black coffee was nice, but the flavour profile could be bolder and more robust. I'm certainly glad that it wasn't watered down too much. Pika's advice: The coffee is free-flowing, so don't hesitate to request for more should you desire more than a mug.
Melon's Rating
Taste: 7/10
Ambience: 8/10
Service: 8/10
Overall: 7.5/10
The restaurant overlooks the Harbourfront area. Pika's advice: You may want to consider their Combo Meals that come with side dish(es) and drink(s).
