How did the limited edition salted egg yolk item fare?

Prior to dropping by the outlet at Changi Airport, it'd been a long time since I last dined at Fish & Co., which was probably during my Junior College days. After sending my sister off, my BFF and I decided to check out how the menu has changed over the years.

Prawns Deluxe S$8.95

Taste: 8/10

Fish & Co. has decided to jump onto the wagon of craze over anything and everything related to salted egg yolk. As I sank my teeth into one of the deep-fried prawns, I was enamoured by its succulent flesh, as well as the crispy and airy coating. The salted egg yolk sauce, while creamy, could use more of the star ingredient for a more potent taste.

Chili Crab Spaghetti S$17.95

Taste: 7.5/10

As a fusion dish, it was a decent one. The spaghetti was cooked well, although the sauce could be a tad less sweet and also a bit hotter. Again, it was the deep-fried item that amazed me. While the flesh could be sweeter, the soft-shell crab was as good as the prawn appetiser.

Citrus-Crusted Barramundi S$18.95

Taste: 8/10

The fish lived up to my expectations as it was pretty fresh and retained its moisture after pan-frying. The crumbs, mixed with lemon zest, were a lovely juxtaposition to the white meat in terms of texture. The white sauce was good, but it was too little. As for the side dishes, the coleslaw and the flavoured rice were a good choice.

Hot Fudge Chocolate Cake S$6.95

Taste: 8/10

To end the meal, we shared a plate of hot fudge chocolate cake that turned out to be moist and rich enough for my liking. The chocolate flavour was pretty strong without being overwhelmingly sweet. The accompanying vanilla ice cream had started melting by the time the plate reached the table though.
