Virgin experience with carbonara risotto!
Apart from Italian cuisine, the restaurant also offers modern European dishes. I was focusing only on the former though for my dinner yesterday.
I wrote about Spizzico sometime last year, an Italian restaurant that used to be at UE Square, but it has since moved to Westgate Mall at Jurong East. It appears that the space has been overtaken by another Italian restaurant, which is what I'm going to review today.

Grilled Smoked Duck S$12.00
Taste: 7/10
To ensure that I ate some vegetables for dinner, I decided to go for the grilled smoked duck slices that were sitting on a bed of adequately fresh and colourful salad. The appetiser wasn't particularly special, but I did enjoy the honey orange vinaigrette. It could be less watery though.
Porcini Carbonara Risotto S$22.00
Taste: 8/10
That was my virgin experience with carbonara risotto. Even though it didn't look mouth-watering, it was packed with flavours. The savoury taste was well-balanced by the earthy porcini mushrooms. At the end of the day, I still prefer spaghetti or linguine when it comes to carbonara though.
Spaghetti Seafood Aglio Olio S$24.00
Taste: 6/10
I was wondering whether the correct main course was delivered to the table at first, for the spaghetti was way too wet. While the taste was alright, there was simply not enough garlic. They weren't stingy with the seafood items, which were acceptably fresh, but could be more so.
Panna Cotta with Mixed Berries Compote S$8.00
Taste: 7/10
The panna cotta (lit. cooked cream) was decent. Being mildly sweet and jiggly enough, it came in a chilled glass dessert bowl. The mixed berries 'compote' on top of it seemed to have been taken from a particular brand of jam that I often eat with toast for breakfast.
Melon's Rating
Taste: 7/10
Ambience: 7.5/10
Service: 8/10
Overall: 7.5/10
While the overall taste was acceptable, the dinner in its entirety left me unimpressed. Pika's advice: If still available, you may want to take advantage of the 1-for-1 main course promotion on weekdays from 11.30am to 3.30pm.
