August is here! After visiting the cool Library@Orchard for the first time, my BFF and I walked our way to Orchard Central. We stumbled upon Milagro Spanish Restaurant, which offers quite an extensive food items from various regions of the country.
The restaurant seems to have something for everyone, whether you're looking for a big meal or some tapas (small savoury dishes typically served with drinks).
Soft-Shell Crab in Peppercorn Cognac Sauce S$9.00
Taste: 8/10
From the tapas menu, I tried the popular crunchy soft-shell crabs smothered in peppercorn cognac sauce. The crustaceans were pretty fresh, having mildly sweet and moist meat. As for the sauce, it was creamy enough for my liking, even though I could barely taste any cognac in it.
Chicken Catalunya S$12.00
Taste: 9/10
Another item from the tapas menu, the chicken stew with white wine, raisins and pine nuts melted me heart. The stew was adequately thick and flavourful, while the white meat was tender and juicy. The dish was so hearty that I'd want to have a second helping.
Paella Valenciana (Mini) S$38.00
Taste: 8/10
Enough for two people, the classic Spanish rice dish that came with chicken chunks, French beans and saffron made a good main course. Simmered in tomato sauce with a nice sweet and sour balance, the rice was well-cooked. The crunchy French beans provided a nice contrast in texture to the tender white meat.
Leche Frita S$8.00
Taste: 8.5/10
I recall having somewhat similar fried milk at Shilin Night Market in Taipei, Taiwan. Shaped like chicken fingers, the fried milk sticks were crispy on the outside, while having a creamy, pudding-like texture on the inside. They were dusted with aromatic cinnamon powder and accompanied by a saucer of cream.

Overall: 7.5/10
It's unsurprising that the restaurant receives quite a lot of good reviews online. Pika's advice: According to some people, the restaurant serves affordable lunch sets.
